Question is, is a luxury retail space at a financial/business centre really that successful?

We have Nation Tower, Central Market, Ethihad Towers and established Malls like Marina Mall and Abu Dhabi Mall catering the luxury segment. I think the lessons, learnt in DIFC, were not taken into consideration.

Just my two cents

but those residents will be more likely to go to Paragon Mall, which should be ready within a years time. so before the Galleria is open.

Al Hilal Bank, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Quote:

Friday 07 Sep 2012

Architecture firm Goettsch Partners (GP) has recently designed the flagship commercial development for Al Hilal Bank in the heart of Abu Dhabi's Al Maryah Island. The new speculative office tower is located in the Emirate's developing new central business district, accessible from the surrounding services. The 24-storey tower includes office and retail space, with 1,000 parking spaces for tenants and visitors. "The new tower creates a distinctive architectural form, which is expected in the region," said James Goettsch, FAIA, president of Goettsch Partners. "At the same time, the building offers very efficient floor plates that are atypical in the local market."

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Construction progress in Abu Dhabi

Friday 09 Nov 2012

Construction on the HDR-designed Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is progressing with pace in the UAE, with the 364-bed hospital due to open at the end of 2013. Located at Abu Dhabi’s new Central Business District on Al Maryah Island, the new healthcare facility is both symbolically and literally founded on water. The colour palette used throughout the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi draws from the neutral hues of the desert surroundings and the bright turquoise of the waters in the Gulf.

Status: Under construction
