I thought the big issue was that to build a well spaced third runway, allowing three fully independent approach streams, would require bulldozing some of the surrounding villages, or concoct some elaborate, very expensive scheme that would put the runway very remote from the existing airport.

What I'm talking about only involves the airport property, and some adjacent commercial areas.

Will Etihad do a bacon sandwich for that price? I didn't think so.

tullamarine I don't think Etihad (or Emirates for that matter) will do a bacon sandwich at any price!!! Qantas customers on Sydney/Melbourne-London lost bacon from the breakfast menu following the Emirates alliance.

I had a quite the surprise just before my flight to Geneva on the 18th. Was flying with Swiss, and despite check-in being done in Terminal 1, the aircraft itself was docked at Gate B36, in Terminal 2. Quite the walk to get there from T1 though, so that was quite the hassle. The terminal itself however; it's interior, looked sublime.

Can someone explain me, what is the current status of the terminal 2B satellite on the picture above? As far as I can understand, it was basically opened long before the T2A was completed and was functioning as a part of T1 being connected to it via footbridge. Is it now considered as a part of T2 with the same footbridge used as an access link or the passengers still need to check in at T1 (or both, although I cannot imagine how that can work)? It this bridge thing permanent or is it planned to be replaced with the underground link like in T5B/C? BTW, is there an access link between T1 and T2, because the bridge appears to be connected to both of them?

^ Access from T2 is via underground tunnel. Access from T1 is via the bridge that can be seen through satellite photos.

Currently, T2B is being used by both T1 and T2. Don't know how long that will last, I'm assuming as more T1 carriers move, then they'll leave T2B just for T2. The bridge will be removed, don't know when. Perhaps, when T1 is demolished for expanded T2, or perhaps when more carriers have moved over it will be removed earlier (that will allow more gates to open at T2B).

T2A is linked to T2B via underground walkway and moving conveyor; there is no transit system like T5. The link bridge from T2B to T1 will be taken down at some point in time, I haven't seen any dates mentioned as yet.
