I don't think that's what skyline means. I don't think there are any facts, any rules about skylines in the way your reading of the concept of them seems to imply.

Indeed the idea of a "skyline" being in any way representative of a city is, in itself, a wholly false construct, the skyline being a wholly contrived and unrealistic 2D facade on behalf of the viewer.
We know this and we accept it.

Themselves being an illusionary artifice, they don't have to be dense, to be modern, to be old, to be tall, to be anything since we don't, we can't judge skylines based on veracity or on truth.
There are no rules other than personal appeal.

No, we judge them based on the appeal of that contrived composition presented to us, which is why by the very superficial notion of "skyline", Liverpool, devoid of Space Needles, devoid of mile-high architectural priapism and mile-wide block-walled canyons, has deserved its place at the World Skyline-Appreciators Anoraks Convention table for the best part of a century.

Lol. Plethora of shite? I love it how this is the reaction when people realise they themselves have just been buggered up thier ass.

Ok. well, play time is over. Let you guys continue to think Pools skyline is better then the rest of Europes. Good does'nt mean the best. Something I think Liverpudlians get confused with, especially if they support Liverpool. The potential is there for something special, they just need to keep thier heads low and knuckle down. Not try and moan about others cityscape which has no relation to a skyline! You get distracted, you get nowhere. Could come in useful to you little kids in the future! Keep mind of it.

Yes, yes I did.

It's not perfect. It could do with a draft or two but I have limited time to spend on the internet.*

*You should try this "limited time" thing btw. It may help.

Scouse, Scousers, Liverpudlians or Liverpolitans

The term Scouser has been used by the British media in a derogatory way for the last 15-20 years though, so much so that it means something else to people in Britain but outside Liverpool.

Oddly enough, the term "Liverpudlian" actually also comes from a derogatory term for Liverpool, "Liverpuddle", but is widely accepted now.

Liverpolitan, IIRC, is the original & correct name for an inhabitant of Liverpool

The Tallinn and Vilnius skylines are still pretty small but in a few years they will both have a pretty dencet skyline.

Yeah. Odd word isn't it?

Or Scousers.

Not too keen on either of those words really.

Oh believe me I do. Maybe you should venture over to the Birmingham skybar and check out our lttle post ticker. You'll soon learn! This has nothing to do with skylines but obviously you're more interested in things not relating to this just liven up your life. Maybe a job could work?

Well I'm in work, so you'll have to forgive me for being unable to reach those heady-heights of grammatical perfection. Can we call it quits now, please?

Im going to put my two pennies worth in for London. Not in the same league as Frankfurt or Paris yet, but its growing. Canary Wharf itself has over 30 towers over 100m planned or U/C

Finally, some good pictures of Londons skyline. See, I think that Canary Wharf is actually better than La Defense, or at least on par. Frankfurt is still the best though.

I like Frankfurt, but my no. 1 goes to Warsaw.

By the way, i loved to see those wind turbines in the skyline of Amsterdam.
