I was not aware of it, but anyway a single duty free shop can hardly be the "main industry" of a 15k town.

Free shop is on no side, that's why it is free shop, because it is in no man's land

yeah but it doesn't work that way... the real border is somewhere in the middle of the no mans land (there are markings) between the two border posts... There used to be two free shops, one on the Macedonian side run by Macedonians and one on the Greek side run by Greeks... the one on our side got shut down years ago due to legislation. The one one the Greek side is the only one left today. It's fully run by Greeks with Greek employees who are rather fluent in Macedonian and Serbian as well, at least many of them.

I really like this building (from the Athens Photo Thread), and I think Skopje should build more apartments like these. But wasn't there a building under construction in Skopje that looked very similar to this one?
image hosted on flickr ![]() Here I found it, the project is called "Palata Citkusevi" - What ever happened to this project? ![]() ![]() ![]() Another similar project, I have no clue what happened to it: ![]() ![]()

The Palata Chitkushevi is being rebuilt actually. I think it was destroyed during the earthquake, it was also known as 'Brothers Chitkushevi' seems like some brothers built it some time ago. This is just a modern approach. Not sure about the second building.

Seems like he's just planning on strengthening the infrastructure in the country that will connect the two countries more, how he plans i don't know...it could be anything from some more high ways to that corridor passage thing.
