20 to 30 meters? not long to me. In the Netherlands/Amsterdam we often use piles of 19/20 meters just to put a 4 story building on it. For the taller buildings (like mondriaan and rembrand tower) 30 meters is quite normal.

If you really are what you claim to be (in your screen-name), you should know that the length of the piles depends on the type of soil beneath.

However the other supertalls of the same stature in the area, have piles driven to a depth of 40 - 50 meters.

I'm sorry it's not obvious to me. Exactly what are they doing on the ground right now.

New picture from Richard Head. It looks like there might be 2 piling rigs on the site here. Someone needs to have a closer look

Its not under construction, because only site preparation is under way. You can see only pilling machines in the foreground. I hope you dont think marina 106 is the building under construction at floor 11th - that marina 101.

has anybody got an idea on how tall its going to be ?
from reading, i would say its gotta be around 450m.
i say this because of this,
There is a special approval from H.H. The Ruler himself for constructing the building with such a height
if thats the case, then its going to be taller then we think

450 meters is maybe a little to high ! Think it could be 410-420 meters in height !

I don't like this tower. The horizontal slats at every level is a little overbearing considering the height. You can see how the architect wanted to avoid a repetitive facade by adding features of interest and various breaks up the facade but these do look like glaring afterthoughts. I love the Calatrava-esque feature at the podium - that really stands out for me.

on Culwulla Diagram for super talls for Dubai, he count this tower at 435m!
I dont know from where he got that but he has almost 33000 qoutes on this site so most probably he know what he is talking about.
