Hey, thanks for reminding me, BND. I wanted to ask you guys if you know of any future airshows in Hungary... Anything in the next months or perhaps early 2009?

It was on June 20, 2008. Hazardous maneuver performed at a too low altitude (100m).

It's weird that the firing postition above has also little glass windows. Just for the panorama Anyway, I guess they are quite resistant to shrapnels.

I hope they bring them home after the mission. How cool they will look with Hungarian licence plates
I remember while Taszár air base was operated by the US, Humvees weren't an unusual sight around Kaposvár. They looked funny together with our small European cars

Hey Guys!
I really dunno what's the difference between Hummer and Humvee. Is the civilian version the Hummer (H1, H2 and H3) and the military one Humvee?

Hungarian JAS 39 Gripens - the armed service begins

I was like shocked when reading the Hungarian title for the first time

Készenlétbe helyezik a Gripeneket

Hétfőtől fegyveres készenléti szolgálatba állnak a Gripen vadászrepülőgépek. Az átmeneti időben együtt látják majd el a magyar légtér védelmét a MiG-29-kel, amíg azokat nem vonják ki a forgalomból.
Forrás: [origo]

Jövő hétfőtől fegyveres légvédelmi készenléti szolgálatba állítja Gripen vadászrepülőgépeit a Magyar Honvédség - jelentette be Pető István dandártábornok, a kecskeméti légibázis parancsnoka. A svéd gyártmányú Gripen repülőgépek december 22-én állnak készenléti szolgálatba, és a MiG-29-es vadászgépekkel felváltva látják el Magyarország légterének védelmét addig, amíg az orosz gyártmányú vadászgépeket kivonják a forgalomból.

A Svédországban kiképzett pilóták teljes egészében elsajátították a feladatokat, amit már több hazai és külföldi légibemutatón is bizonyítottak - mondta Pető István, aki több ilyen légibemutatót megemlített. Kiemelte például az amerikai pilótákkal és F-15-ös vadászgépekkel közösen végrehajtott gyakorlat, melyen a "papíron" jobb amerikai gépekkel "döntetlenre" hozták a Gripenek a versengést.

Anyway how many working Mig 29s do we still have in service? 3 or 4?

The 'unbeatable' Hungarian Air Force

Puma Sqn verified Sidewinders this summer in Sweden by shooting down targets. See link:

http://www.fmv.se/WmTemplates/page.aspx?id=4276

I don't know about Hungarian weapons inventory other than that missile rail launchers and designator pods is available. The aircraft is verified to use all weapons Hungary requested to be integrated such as C5 amraam, mavericks, sidewinder, 27mm ammo and GBU bombs.
