Paraguayan countryside
Hi there, I'll keep posting pics of my country's landscape. There is an urban tread already in the Lationoamerica section. For those who know nothing about Paraguay...
It's a landlocked country located in South America sharing borders with Brazil, Bolivia and Argentina. Our main logistic conexion for import/exports is the Paraguay river which flows into the Parana and the River Plate conecting with the Atlantic Ocean. Paraguay is a big producer of soya beans (4th world exporter), meat (over 40 foreing markets including Croatia!), and other related products (aggribusiness). Big players such as Cargill and ADM World are already here. We also have two hydroelectrical dams which are co-owned with Brazil (Itaipu) and Argentina (Yacyreta). What else... the capital is called Asuncion (where I come from) and its metro area has around 1.2 mill people. The country's population is around 6.4 mill people. Our official languages are Spanish and Guarani. Ok, lets go to the pics! The first pics I'm posting are from my family's cattle ranch in San Juan Neembucu. small lake ![]() another on the same lake ![]() sunset ![]() grassing lands ![]() some calves from the ranch

Jesuit Towns of Jesus and Trinidad s. XVII to XVIII World Heritage Sites near Encarnacion. Around 300,000 guaranis where living on them during the golden years. Official languages were Latin and Guarani. Jesuit priest from all over the Christdom went to work on these towns achieving the evangelisation of the Guaranis and protecting them from the Portuguese slave hunters. It's wonderful to see these pictures! When I was in highschool four years ago I taught English in Luque for four months. More than anything else the people are what really stand out; Paraguayans are such warm-hearted, generous, and considerate people. I'd love to be sitting around with some friends drinking some terere with the sound of the streets, full of buses and animals and people speeding about, like music in the background.
You've captured some beautiful scenes! |
