They state in that Youtube video that "the Dubai Metro will be able to reach speeds up to 40 km/h". Surely that is wrong?

40 km/h is more or less the average speed for the Red Line, but the trains can reach up to 110 km/h, however I doubt they will ever reach that speed. It is simply not possible with all the stations.

So it's top commercial speed will be 40km/h? Most metros are 80km/h at least...

Well I think that 40km/h is the average speed, even a metro with small interstation like Paris metro have higher top speed.

Maybe they mean top average speed .
No modern metro has a top speed as low as 40 km/h or 40 mph.

Top average, not average top.
Maybe there are different average speeds, like during rush hours or at night, then one of them is the top average speed.

Coincidence that the lead sponsor of the awards - Ansaldo STS - supplied the trains to the Copenhagen Metro?

Copenhagen Metro is really cute, but best metro in Europe? Why?

The mere fact that the network is only 21 kms long and its trains can only carry 300 passengers should be enough to exclude it from the first place.

Most Improved Metro: Madrid. I agree.

There should also be another category, for the safest metro. Athens metro could easily win, as the most dangerous people you can find riding it are guys like these:

Oh NY's wasn't that dirty - didn't notice it anyway..

Copenhagen's is driverless and rely on censors scanning the area ahead, so there has to be clean othervise the train will stop

About the screen I do think they are projection screens - but LCDs are gaining ground here - some bus lines now have them and it's being tested on some S-Train lines too..

All hail the mighty power of commercials

Well, they must be in their early 20’s. They act like this because they found the metro car empty, which is quite unusual.

Athens Metro operates until 2 o’ clock in the morning every Saturday and Sunday. In those strange hours the usual crowds are absent, that’s why our guys took the opportunity to take over the subway.

Really? Isn't it because of signals passed through wires between the tracks, like practically all other automatic railways?

The Metro is clean because: it is relatively new, it is well maintained and because it has platform edge doors stopping rubbish falling onto the track.
