The cladding is magnificent when seen in person. It's a very nice filler tower.

The cladding isn't worth to be called so. Looks like lightened concrete and suburban office park recycle glass.

Wouldn't cross an ocean for this one. Of all I see U/C in New York this is my least favourite.

Yeah, I don't get all of the hate. When you see it in person it offers a nice contrast to the colors of the surrounding buildings. The glass doesn't look cheap in person, either. Heck, I don't think the glass looks cheap at all.

This building takes on an entirely different look when you're level with it.

The 123 Washington is the tallest one, right? What about that other one under construction? What building is that?

The other building with the crane is a casualty of 9/11 and is being demolished.

Ow, it's a shame.

But, is there any project to replace that building?

This was the proposal, WTC 5. But after the financial crisis there probably won't be anything built on the site for a long time. Some say the performing arts center, which was supposed to go in between the Freedom Tower and 2WTC, would fit well on that site. Others think the site should be given to a developer to build a hotel. It's still to be determined.

Hopefully WTC 5 will not be built like in the rendering above. It just looks like a giant toilet to me .

Was wondering what this building was. Pretty sharp. Made my first trip to lower Manhattan in over a year and this was the first building to catch my eye.

They did it that way because there is supposed to be a church under the tower (in front of the building currently being taken down, it’s a Greek Orthodox Church that was destroyed in 9/11, and built there long before the original WTC was built), and a major bank was going to move in to WTC5, so they needed large stock trading floors. In order to accommodate that, the larger floors of the tower would have to jut out above the church. That's why it looks the way it does in that rendering.

Awesome pictures. I am wondering what is that yellow building close to Trump Building? I don't think I seen it before...

That's the infamous Beaver Building. Residential, was completed like 2 years ago.
