For height, it's due to the height restrictions so that the Peace Tower would be the tallest when viewed from Ottawa River.

But yes, Ottawa's doing well because a few buildings have exceeded the height restriction.

I'd hate to see Ottawa become a city of skyscrapers like Toronto or Vancouver. Beautiful, mid-rise buildings are what it should aim for, in my opinion.

Agree. I wish, however, they'd take more direction architecturally from the Parliament buildings, the Chateau Laurier, and the Supreme Court. The capital should be special. Ottawa should make more of an effort to create something unique rather than duplicating the same architecture we see in the rest of the nation.

While Ottawa's skyline is not very impressive, the city in general certainly is... it's undoubtedly one of the world's most beautiful capital cities.
