Oh, and BTW, the French red and blue colors are absolutely not the same as the Yugo's ones !

You've just acted with the smugness and arrogance that makes the French (and more specifically Parisians) negatively famous abroad. Hope that made you feel better you little spit****

No big surprise though given your name and avatar...

PS: Switch back to topic and don't bring up the Eiffel tower once again if you wanna be taken seriously again

Yeah. La Defense cant compete with the 5 boxes of Canary Wharf.
Actually one of the Canary Wharf boxes has a little pyramid on topso I guess it techincally is not a box.

I love when you people lecture the French about arrogance and smugness while being arrogant, smug and condescending.

I'm quite surprised about this proposal. I never heard about it here on French media. This forum is full of surprises. I haven't read the whole thread but apparently both towers are supposed to be as tall as the Eiffel Tower. I imagine they studied well their investment but I didn't expect such a thing to be profitable in France.

No it's a riskly project and we are just at the beginning! It's more a bet imo but which has its utility! offices and the most concerns new luxurious apart, an offer you have in general in asia or dubai.

It would pave the way of a new manner of thinking that paris could top among the worldcities ranking when comes the class appart business.

just imo

I don't mind you call it 5 boxes or whatever, but the truth is this is just the beginning of the Canary Wharf journey, it still has a long way to go and much more beautiful skyscrapers are already in the way. Basically, Canary Wharf is just Manhattan of Europe it has a lot of similarities like Manhattan, New York, you can also see the skyscrapers such as United Nations Headquarters, Three World Financial Center (boxes) in Canary Wharf as well

To compare Canary Wharf to Manhattan is deeply insulting... for Manhattan.

In any cases this thread is about a project in Paris and that's got nothing to do with Canary Wharf.

i love canary warth!
We know that renzo piano or caesar pelli has designed the same tower he did for Manhattan.

That's why it's so american standardized. I love this cool skyline very peaceful! But no original because it hasn't an english "touch" unlikely the city with pinnacle or gherkin.

But trust me CW is my prefered business district in europe!

But we'll see in few years which skyline is the best when all projects in london and paris finished! A hard game.

Doubtless true. I may even change my opinion on seeing them in the flesh.

Personally, I was very careful to try and explain why I didn't like this proposal though. I wouldn't have just dismissed it as 'shit'. It's a shame that others felt the need to.

Beyond the fact there's something strange in putting Renzo Piano (The Shard) and Canary Wharf together in the same statement this thread is about La Défense and Norman Foster, thanks.

C'etait effectivement de la medisance gratuite et inutile. Il ne l'a peut-etre pas ecrit avec ca comme arriere-pensee, mais le resultat plus que maladroit est le meme. Tres parisien comme remarque, je maintiens.

Merci Galick. Y en a au moins un qui suit...

I'm French and I did grow up in Paris; I know what I'm on about and you should recognize his comment was 'unnecessarily below the belt' to say the least. Get some fresh air.

Et le fait de faire tout un flan d'une simple boutade, de voir le mal partout et de tout prendre trop au sérieux, c'est un comportement typiquement français en revanche !

Fair enough; but your remark felt unjustified and mean. It annoyed me.
Mutual respect is the necessary basis for every conversation, may it be face to face or online. What you said to that guy felt smug and slightly out of line so I had to mention it and I hope you understand why.
Subject closed.

Why is the title still reading 323m when in the French forum they've announced an extra 12 meters or so?!?! 323 will be the height from 'la dalle' in LD. But it's actually taller from the ground itself.
Can someone clued up confirm?

The official date is in August 2011. But i think the construction will not begin before 2012.
