From certain angles they will look like they're in the middle of La Défense. You can count on the Parisian forumers to take pictures from that angle.

This is what I was talking about. The Tours Hermitage are shown here at their exact location and height.

+1, it doesn't fit La Défese and in general Paris silhouette at all. I'd say they are just too high for a shape like that.

It's not an 'official' render Boris, just a photomontage by Brisavoine. We'll probably have some more official renderings from Foster+Partners in the next few months, but by then, it's always interesting to have those DIY photomontages.

Great DIY render, but what's the pretty domed building? Paris is so beautiful, people can't stress enough how beautiful it is yet it is so underrated.

It's the Eglise Saint Augustin Autothrill, built between 1860 & 1871. To make this construction possible, a metallic structure was used. The Eglise Saint Augustin is 100m wide & 80m tall.

Here's a great website to get all the answers about the Parisian monuments: HERE

Without the towers, la defence would not be easily identifiable by most people

Some people met yesterday on site to protest against Hermitage's project.

At the end of the day, nothing really impressive as hardly 50 people turned up (nimbies + a political character, Jean-André Lasserre), the latter is ferociously opposed to all projects.

They hooked a banner that goes: 'No to the Hermitage towers' on one of the INFRA building's facades...

Pic by Spoudzzi

All pics by LUDOBOY:

As you can see (& as expected), they 're all very 'young'...

Some ridiculous comments were visible: 'What about my children, which school are they going to attend?' or
'Hermitage, Napoleon is watching you!'

Quote:
Lasserre promised that if François Hollande (socialist candidate for the Presidentials) was to win the elections in May & therefore oust Sarkozy (which is very likely), lots of things will change in La Défense.*

*---> in other words Hollande would make his best to make the major projects fail, HERMITAGE, PHARE, AVA & so forth.
PS: merci Ludoboy...

Could you re-upload this somewhere else please? Never ever use tinypic again, they're completely screwed. Deleted over half of my image stock, containing loads of private photos. Tinypigs!

@RandomNameTag, it's highly likely that Hollande will make those projects slow down, to say the least...(as if Hermitage Plaza was not delayed enough...)

Sarkozy loves america, he loves skyscrapers, he loves big dimension projects & he loves La Défense...that's why he has launched a renewal plan for La Défense, he's backed Hermitage Plaza since day one (remember 3 years ago, he went to Moscow along with Iskenderov to sign a contract for the twin towers in the presence of Medvedev). Hermitage PLaza is moving ahead (despite many obstacles) owing to the political support.

If Hollande becomes the new president of France in May, things are gonna change for sure...Hollande will want to show that he cares about the 'weak people'. He will be eager to mark a real break with Sarkozy's policy.

La Défense's renewal plan launched by Sarkozy will surely suffer once Hollande in power. I really am worried for Hermitage Plaza & Phare...

What are the statistics. Does Hollande have high chances to win against Sarkozy in may?

Definitely...there are 2 rounds at the french Presidentials.

For instance, today's poll show that Sarkozy would be ahead in the first round with 28%, Hollande comes second with 27%.

For the second round, things are a lot different as Hollande would become President with 54.5% while Sarkozy would get 45.5%.

The 1st round will take place next sunday, the second round on 6 May.

There are 2 huge meetings today in Paris, Hollande in Vincennes & Sarkozy Place de la Concorde where at least 50 000 people are expected for each candidate.

Now, let's wait & see...

ps: polls are just polls but according to many specialists, Hollande has already won...

well that's sad to hear, as a German i always liked Sarkozy, he always seemed to make good decisions and made the German french relationship stronger to work together for this difficult crisis in the European Union.
