Jean-André Lasserre is not the mayor of Courbevoie ! He's the opposition local figure. Considering the political configuration of the municipality, he has very small chances to actually represent anything serious one day.

The mayor of Courbevoie is named Jacques Kossowski, and he strongly supports the project. This is about a 2 billion euros investment, he would be foolish to be against it.

I would say a good half of the demonstrators were political activists from the opposition party, coming from Courbevoie and the surrounding municipalities.

Oh please! You can't vote someone for letting some towers be built or not. Government is much more than that. Think about social policies and how people would live in the country with each candidate as president. I'm not French so I may not be the right one to decide, but I do care about people living well, and respecting the environment.
Back on topic, the towers are really good, and the whole protest thing was pretty pointless, as they didn't have any serious argument against them.

Those terraced apartments look run down, brutalist, and more importantly, dangerous. Tear them down.

The opponents to the Tours Hermitage keep repeating that those terraced apartments are (I quote) "of very high quality".

^The piles of trash that were strewn about the place, the broken fences, and the weeds growing out of cracks in the ground beg to differ.

Well, they argue that those terraced apartment buildings have been left to decay on purpose to justify their demolition. They say that if they were properly renovated, with the façades scrubed and whatnot, they would be a wonderful place to live, because their architecture is superb, of the highest standard, bla bla bla.

So they demand:
a- cancellation of the Tours Hermitage project
b- renovation of the buildings, scrubbings of the façades, etc.
c- bringing back tenants to live in the now empty appartments; no rich people in La Défense France please
d- send Hermitage's boss to a labor camp in French Guiana (I'm almost not kidding on that one: they recently openly called the Russian developer a "delinquent" on their website; in fact even the local municipal opposition group also called the developer a "delinquent" on their website, which could be considered libel by the courts)

Clearly a group of Baby-Boom generation on a fairly good well-fair support or pension who can't see that change is coming and is necessary to compete with the rest of the World. For these people, most of whom at the end or already at the end of their labour history; living with a view and in tranquility means more than seeing people have jobs, more jobs to be created when there will be an influx of international companies to the area giving it a boost and help many now poor live on a more reasonable living standard and can hope for a better future.

I shall ship them to French Guinée so they can live in peace, harmony and prosperity, growing their own food and never to be worried about lack of a view and having high rises next door, instead.

Amazing towers, too bad they are totally out of place. Should be placed somewhere else in La Defense where they are surrounded by higher towers. Right now it just looks unnatural.

Why unnatural? This will give a great variation in the skyline, just like the old WTC twins.
