Come on, lets not start this again...

About the NIMBY topic; why did they choose to live in the main financial center of Paris (where there are plenty of highrise buildings) if they didnt expect the area to expand with taller buildings?

Sorry Cloud but very laconic posts like his often come from british people I noticed...I wish that guy had arguments to develop his message but obviously he hadn't as he's just a troll & a french basher...if trolls stopped polluting the french threads I wouldn't need to be sarcastic...thank god there are clever & openminded englishmen to balance it all...

Regarding those nimbies you're so right...I blamed them for that many times but they deliberately stray from the point...most of them are just ignorant people, they can blame themselves & only themselves for being in such a situation now.

Back on topic, the towers are really good, and the whole protest thing was pretty pointless, as they didn't have any serious argument against them.
You've got my vote.
Let's leave the elections out of this discussion.
I personally don't think it will change anything if laws are respected and if the towers still have the support they have today.

Nope because aside of a couple of NIMBYs no one cares. It's not a subject and has not been mentioned in the campaign.

I hope the Hermitage is built. NIMBY's like those of that hideous apartment building are a problem the world over.

I thought NimbYs were essentially a french speciality...

@Time&Tide

Hollande will have other fish to fry...read Matthieu & Brisavoine's previous posts, they explain that better than me.

Nope, afraid not. There are NIMBY's everywhere, however, French NIMBY's may be in a class of their own. Of course, since I don't live there I really don't know. Regardless, they all share one thing in common: They hold back progress.

Here in Indianapolis we just had a 26 floor apartment tower proposal reduced to 10 floors because the NIMBY's said it didn't fit the neighborhood. Ridiculous for people to claim a 300ft. tower doesn't belong in the central core of a major urban area!

Honestly, what is with all this negativity surrounding Hollande? Even though I don't live in France, there are some issues he's addressing in his campaign that I agree with, like reversing the rising youth unemployment rate.

French NIMBYs are overrated. Here we say that when we want to build a highway through a swamp we don't ask the frogs.

Just look at all the engineering works done in France... waterways, hausmanian planing, the Millau Viaduct etc...

All in all, when we want something built, we do it.

NIMBYs are at root, all proper Bostonians. All else is a weak immitation.

Bring on the cranes!

An appeal protesting against the Damiers's sale rejected by Paris's Court

Quote:
The Association 'Vivre à La Défense' which had appealed against the previous decision (they protested against the sale of the Damiers INFRA/BRETAGNE/ANJOU on 6 september 2001 by AXA to Logis-Transport) saw their appeal rejected by Paris's Court on 3 May 2012. The latter considered that the association request was not founded & therefore sentenced them to pay 6000€ (to the promoter + the other 2 defendants) as well as for the entire fees involved in both instances.
As for the Association 'Vivre à La Défense', the Court's decision is 'a scandal', they refuse to see their appeal as 'abusive' & assert they won't leave it there & will now appeal in the next few weeks on the building permit delivered by the City Hall of Courbevoie on 6 March 2012.

4 formal complaints to Hermitage Plaza

That's not 1 but 4 formal complaints that Hermitage Plaza is now facing. The association Vivre à La Défense issued 3 formal complaints on 4 may while Une autre ambition pour Courbevoie issued one.

Those formal complaints should subsequently evolve into appeals.

EDIT: rectified...thank you erbse

God, won't those guys STFU? Those terraces are already ruined. They need to realize that the city is modernizing and to stop living in the 70s.

Those complaints/appeals were expected & normal given the scale of the project so that's no surprise but still, I really hate those associations...they're very good at taking advantage of the system by appealing abusively non stop...

Time will tell whether Emin Iskenderov was right in hanging in his project or not, but if he succeeds, he will deserve his own statue because making such an ambitious project come true in France really is a tour de force...
