I was afraid that if Sarko would have won then Foster's design would have been abandoned and the towers would be designed after Sarko's wiener but in overly exaggerated way of course... we all know it's far from supertall. Call me cynical but that's what I expect from such narcissistic knobs.

D2 tower looks ridiculously small compared to CBX tower (Dexia) while it's actually almost 30m taller...

Tour Generali is still there? Does that mean there is hope for the project or this just an outdated image? Generali was always my favourite French project!

Yes Thanial. Even though Generali threw in the towel last july, the project in itself still exists. Besides, the EPADESA (which runs the business district) has been trying to find another investor since then to take over the project.

Hopefully, it will pay off...would be really sad indeed to lose such a distinctive project. It's really frustrating as it's cleared of all appeals...when/if another investor takes it over, they will therefore be able to start its construction at once (after demolishing the IRIS building though).

What I love about this tower's design is that although it looks top-heavy, the base is pretty much the same area as the top. It's like an antiprism shape.

What I like about Hermitage Plaza is that sideways, the view actually represents the full-face tower. It's simply upside down & respects the exact proportions.

I don't remember seeing such an effect on another project...

Hermitage Plaza: 'Vivre à la Défense' to pay 600 000€!

The association 'Vivre à La Défense' -which protested against the sale of the Damiers in La Défense as part as the Hermitage Plaza scheme- saw its appeal rejected for good by the Court d'Appel de Paris. In addition to the appeal's dismissal, the Court ordered the association to pay 600 000€ to Hermitage for abusive appeal.

The Court of Cassation can reverse or uphold the decision of the Court of Appeal.

No Munwon ...

There are also the appeals before the Tribunal Administratif de Cergy-Pontoise & then possibly those before the Cour Administrative d'Appel if the opponents were to decide to go for it (given the huge amount they are ordered to pay), & an agreement is yet to be found with the ASL Les Damiers(Association Syndicale Libre) to allow the demolition...To sum up, there are about 2 or 3 years of procedure before officially launching the project...

EDIT: the association 'Vivre à la Défense' has decided to take its case to the Appeal Court...

Jeez man, sounds like it's a tough fight to construct a tall building in Paris.

You can't imagine how difficult it is comet the cat, over 37m (the usual tolerated height), that's a nightmare...so, when it comes to building some 320m tall twin towers, that's a true challenge, even for La Défense...

It really sucks because Europeans are usually against tall buildings, but when they're finally finished, they marvel at them. Nobody's building anything tall in my city, but I'll bet if they did, they would love it. These people never learn.

Justice DONE!!!

I totally agree with it.We should create, as said Iskenderov, a Real estate jurisdiction designed to manage fastly the validity of appeals and, thus, to limit the overall judgment time to one year max.

That could be a revolution for Paris that, everytimes, has to wait 3 or more years to lunch any skyscraper project.

'Abusive appeal', the legend goes on...

According to 'Vivre à la Défense', no Court has ever convicted their association for 'abusive appeal' nor sentenced it to pay 600 000€. In other respects, they assert not to have received any mail stating that 'Vivre à la Défense' or the nymbys owed the amount of 600 000€ representing Hermitage/Logis Transport's legal costs.

Full letter HERE.
