I just want them to be built and be standing tall to make my most beloved city of all the planet, be as majestic as it is and even more.

I visit Paris from time to time and yet again, everytime it is as if I am there for the first time.

Hermitage Plaza in jeopardy...

Scary news yesterday...

Indeed, the new Prime Minister -Jean-Marc Ayrault- would be about to let the freshly nominated Ministre de l'Egalité des Territoires et du logement- Cécile Duflot- look after the future of La Défense...

Who's Cécile Duflot...? Well, she's part of the Green Party, she's ferociously opposed to tall buildings & might therefore interfere a lot in the twin towers' scheme as well as in that of Phare Tower...she's a 'slappy face' & I've personally always hated that cow, but now...

That's just the worst scenario possible for La Défense's major projects as she's likely to do her very best to make them fail, & overall, just terrible news for the business district itself...

Thank you 'La Gauche'...

Cécile Duflot

I rather had seen Marine Le Pen instead on this job.

I will fly to Paris and burn down those stupid terraces myself if that's what it takes to finally start construction on these towers.

Unfortunately, it's more complicated than that dude. The appeals must get cleared in the first place to start work. As long as they're not, nothing can be done. Indeed last october, the demolition permits had been cancelled in expectation of a compromise with both the owners & co-owners of the nearby buildings. If Hermitage was not to respect the judiciary procedure, the russian company would get a €500 000 fine per established infringement.

Nevertheless, Emin Iskenderov asserts: 'the project works as a whole & its financing is ready to be set up in late 2012, construction is due to start in 2013 for a delivery late 2018.' He also added: 'the Hermitage Towers are as positive for Paris as the Shard is for London.'

In France, it's a state of rights. No matter what these clowns can say, the judges have the last word.

That's the thing with separation of powers. They can bully the press, companies in which they have stakes, but they can't **** with the judiciar power.

Jex7844 is just mixing up everything.

The demolition permits were never "canceled". Demolition has been frozen by a judge until Hermitage finds an agreement with the flat owners in the neighboring buildings (which will be impacted by the construction of the Tours Hermitage). But the demolition permits are still valid and standing.

As for Cécile Duflot, there's not much she can do at this point, because the building permits have already been issued, and as Matthieu says the rule of law (that's the correct name in English) still applies in France, so a minister cannot rescind a building permit on a whim.

There are 2 or 3 years of legal proceedings ahead before all the lawsuits, appeals and whatnot are cleared, and by the time all the legal proceedings are over Ms Duflot will probably not be in the government anymore, the way French politics work.

Thank God, Brisavoine is around to clarify it all...

Indeed, the demolition permits didn't get cancelled (I just relied on a dodgy article*), they're simply 'frozen' indeed. Sorry about that Eric...

Nothing more than a demagogue. Would you listen to her party we'd be all living in the trees, feeding on insect and they're re-introduced wolves in the Bois de Boulogne.

I'd rather have them than the communists though, these people would turn La Défense in a Novi Beograd.

She's a bitch. Feminist league sort of girl. And cynical too. She went on vacation to the Maldives by plane, despite the fact that she asks French people to use only trains for environmental reasons.

In the end, if there is enough money behind this project- it will be built, and if there isn't, it won't. Finances are the only genuine limiting factor in skyscrapers.

To date, the n°1 issue isn't the financing but the damned appeals from the Green Party/nymby associations which prevent the scheme from getting launched...

Once/if Hermitage is allowed to do so, we'll see thereafter whether Emin Iskenderov & co are capable of securing the financing of the project or not...
