Considering that Linfoot has today said he is proposing to build 800 new apartments in a less prime location to Lumiere... I think that shows he is pretty confident and doesn't plan to cancel anything at this stage.
I sincerely hope you are right, but construction 'proper' does not start on the actual towers until next March .... 10 months time.

There hasn't been one bit of negative press that even hints that it may have difficulties though- all the talk of it potentially having difficulties have arisen on this forum, and they only came about because of the doubt people had over Piccadilly. Infact, the stories in the papers about Lumiere seem to be largely positive.

Remember, in the Midlands there is no gloating over football - & I'm happily married, very happily married, thank you!

Who's gloating, when the V Building may be doomed after a 10 year debacle!!

Can you tell me, what else is being constructed on the Piccadilly site next to the proposed tower?
So what's your point. We have concrete.

I don't believe that retaining walls should be classed as foundations even if they have piles in them as they are strictly part of the enabling package.

we could have a further sub heading in between 'approved' and 'construction' called 'enabling'. I think that this could help to settle the arguement, afterall, many sites do stall or even stop at this stage

By the way I'm not doom mongering, I haven't named any sites in particular. I just think that a little more clarification would help

Just remember, construction can always be put on hold. It is a pretty extreme thing that is usually only confined to certain areas of the Earth such as North Korea but it happens!

A ray of hope and sunshine on a wet and grey day in Manc. No mention of Cippers Quay or Whitworth Street West. Dylan Harvey may have bought a large percentage or all of the Clippers Quay units from what I've read, so it's not really Ask's project anymore. (guessing)

From Crains.

Ask Developments shareholder pours in £20m
By Simon Binns

Ask Developments, a Manchester based developer, has announced that existing shareholder Morgan Stanley Real Estate has made a further capital injection of £20m into the company, taking its total commitment to over £40m.

The money will allow Ask to continue with its portfolio of projects and “secure an immediate commitment to over 500,000 sq ft of commercial and retail floor space unlocking an end value of over £175m from the schemes in Urmston and Bury town centres and the substantial first phase at Ask's flagship First Street project in Manchester City Centre (formerly known as Central Spine),” according to a statement.

Ken Knott, Ask Developments chief executive, said: "This is an important vote of confidence in the company in what are currently challenging economic conditions and it is testimony to the inherent quality of our portfolio and its capacity to deliver excellent returns.”

A spokesman for Ask confirmed that the money was a further investment in the company and not specifically for the First Street site.
