Poll: Bank of America's CenTrust Tower Miami
Bank of America's CenTrust Tower, Miami
http://www.hines.com/propertyImages/...urtyard_lg.jpg AT NIGHT (The Lit Up in the Left) Bank of America Tower at International Place (The CenTrust Tower), Miami FL The tower was designed by I.M. Pei & Partners, and was completed in 1986. It has been Miami's second tallest after the former First Union FInancial Center, and now pushed to third place after the topping out of the Four Seasons Tower at 1441 Brickell Av. The tower is 47 stories and reaches 191 meters into the sky. It is always lit from 6 PM to 12 PM and the lights are so bright that they can be seen from Fort Lauderdale. How do You rate this fine Miami tall one? Me, 9.5 |

Nice and smooth but not all that spectacular. It does look good at night though.

one of Miami's signature towers this skyscraper is like a beacon in the night sky...it's impressive even from miles away!..by the way jonathan that last pic is awesome as it shows the Four Seasons tower under construction as well....this is the first time I've seen a new & latest night time pic of Miami's ever growing skyline...excellent!....9.5/10

It's a beautiful building from one angle, but it suffers from having an ugly side. It looks too stubby from some angles. 7.5

The building itself is not that great and impressive. At night it looks nice though. For me 7.0.
BTW: In order to have a good rating some details, used materials etc. of the considered building should be given as well. Now it is only from 'far away' impressions that you can say something.

Miami's signature tower scraping the South Florida sky. Among the greatest lighting schemes for tall buildings. Better seen at night, but, isn't all that bad during the day really - see it in person.

@ angeladevi
The CenTrust has a concrete structure by Dade County ordence for resistance against high winds and hurricanes. It is cladded with highly reflective blue glass horizontal strips as well as some sort of wooden panels [which are the white strips and the part of the facade which lights up at night]. I would agree that it is one of Miami's iconic towers and its a damn underrated skyscraper...but i wouldn't agree that it is not Miami's icon, since this scraper [by height and location] has been outshined by the cascading top of the Wachovia Financial Center, the true Miami icon. |
