Hopefully the city gets their act together and helps the Chargers build a new stadium ASAP.

Does anyone have renderings of this mystery Vegas venue?

I hope we get to host matches.

Indeed , the real question is : Why should you host it, less than 30 years after the last time ...???
For most of nations we have to wait more than 50 years, and Mexico 86' is not included because it was a special case..

If you were the greatest nation in soccer: Maybe OK.. But you aren't !!
There is so many nations in the world which deserve the world cup much more than USA..

Don't misunderstand me, I wrote with my feelings, and according the bidding countries: you are clearly the best one for 2022..

My choice would be :

2018 : England (of course)
2022 : Australia
2026 : USA !
2030 : Another world cup in Europe, as usual

There aren't any renderings. It's just been talk of possibly building a new stadium so the Vegas people just want to keep their name in the discussion for now until they see how their possible stadium plans develop.

Germany hosted the World Cup 32 years after the last time. This is not a impediment for USA to host in 2022. And why Australia deserve it more than USA? They are a great nation in soccer?

No, but they have never hosted it !!! that's why (IMO), they should have it before your second time !

About Germany, it was their first time in 2006, since the reunification ... In 74 it was West Germany.....

So by your arguments, then the WC should be hosted in Spain/Portugal because they are great nation in soccer and not Australia.

Corey, its a combination of things...time since last time hosted, quality of venues, quality of national team, etc.

Personally I think that the US has the best bid but I wouldnt be upset at all if Australia got 2022 because they do deserve a shot.

If the US does get one of the World Cups, I would like to see this stadium as part of the bid.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_James_Stadium

Yep, that exact stadium that has the Buccaneer's pirate ship! It's well over capacity and the ship, if approved by FIFA can easily be modified to temporarily remove/cover such Buccaneer references and American Football references. For example, the American Football can be covered by a proper Football, the Buccaneers logotype can be replaced with the WC logotype and the sails can be replaced with ones depicting the WC logo.

It would indeed make for a curious and memorable stadium to showcase to the whole world!

If Raymond James Stadium were to host a WC match then they would completely take the ship out and expand the stadium by 10,000, which they already do for big events.

^They don't remove the ship. It is kept where it is, but probably inaccessible for the spectators (used as press box facilities for example, which it did for Super Bowl XXXV and Super Bowl XLIII)

Additional seating is added for major events, at the endzones, but the ship remains as is.

Here's proof:

The final should either be at the LA Coliseum or a (heavely revamped) RFK Stadium in Washington DC. In it's current form, it's far too ugly and old.

You know, from that angle, RFK looks a bit like Allianz Arena. I wouldn't mind seeing RFK take that approach if it ever decides to renovate.

on friday i saw the san jose Vs los angeles match... they were playing in a BASEBALL field... come on!!!
the MLS should take this sport serious if they want to get an other world cup, specialy when there are new nations with the wonder to host a WC.

Tell that to your national team that played at that same baseball stadium in January. They even played a friendly at the Diamondbacks baseball stadium in Phoenix last year.

It's where they play some of their bigger matches because their current home stadium is very small. When their new stadium is completed they won't play anywhere but there.

I don't remember this game in january... but anyway, thanks for the reply and hope they stop playing on this type of fields. It's not good for the game.
