I'm still hoping that the developer of the Chicago Spire will add a secret spire to the top that is at least 3 meters tall for two obvious reasons. I know 3 meters can't be that costly in the overall cost of this thing.

^at 610m its still tallest apartments by far. but by having 613m it will surpass Russia tower? to become 2nd tallest bldg on earth? thats not bad. but you would have to put a spire of say 50m to make worth while. 650m sounds good. 2nd tallest structure ever built.
i found it ironic how Spire doesnt have one. lol

Freedom Tower or WTC1 has already reached the ground level more than a week ago. So, this means there is no problem, WTC is rising.

well its not going to happen, they would need approval and it would blow the towers design to shit.

i dont think you would notice any spire at 3m high anyhow. wouldnt do anything to its overall design. even a 30m spire wouldnt impact.

the first plan for the russia tower was 648m, then after the redesign to 600m...but they increased it to 612m to be taller than the CS ...and they could do it again

i drew up this quick table to show how many supertalls have been built since the first being Chrysler back in 1930.
i couldnt change bottom numbers but 1= 1930
40s- the 1970s boom
60s-the 90s.
2008 is the column rising to 10.
as you can see, 2009 will have 20 supertalls scheduled for compeltion while a whopping 25 due in 2010!
ive added projects due for 2011 and 2012 although this will change as some will start soon which are scheduled to be finished in 2012.
So as you can see its quite an amzing time we are in.
