July 31st,

Cladding coming up on two sides of the tower now. SWFC to the right.

image hosted on flickr

The white bars are what makes the cladding different towards the middle of the tower, as seen in the renderings.

Cool, I have always wondered what will be built in the plot behind SWFC, now I know.

its a bit small for such a location, isnt it? i wish there will be a nice cluster of 5-6 buildings from 400-600m. would be most impressive and highest skyline in the world.

Agree. Hopefully Lujiazui Park will be removed some day and become a supertall cluster.

For such stone jungles it is much much better to keep the park.

they wouldnt have to remove the park if they had built some bigger buildings instead of those 100-200m buildings. a park in the middle of skyscprapers is one of the best thing a city can have...

A park in the middle of one of Asia's major business districts doesn't have to be that big though. Shanghai has plenty of green space already. I could easily sacrifice 70-80% of Lujiazui Gongyuan for a bunch of 300-400m towers.

no but if you use your common sense, with the current rate of expanding, shanghai will run out of space pretty soon,

you can say shanghai can expand outwards, but the biggest CBD (lujiazui) must still be the no.1 place to build towers

edit. who owns the park? maybe the firm might realise they could earn big money by selling the land 20 years later XD

I think the government owns it.

With "Shanghai's second downtown area" being planned in Putuo a lot of office towers will go there in the next 20 years I think.
