I've always sucked at highways (I'm much better at things like realistic public transit and suburban\urban boundaries) but there's some fantastic work in this thread!

It sounded awesome but the graphics are so crappy, that I wouldn´t like to play the game 1 minute. Really crappy graphics, not even 3d

The fact its not in 3D has allowed for great detail. But then after all its just a simulator/game. Cities XL might become better though

This is the only game I play, but its really time consuming to do city projects. Much because of the slow to work with interface when you have a lot of downloaded objects in the menus.

If it is with difficulties with financing and so on I would always use cheats to have unlimited money and only construct.

Most of them can be found at

www.simtropolis.com

www.sc4devotion.com

There are also a load of japanese sites with good bats, such as Ks Japans's site, or SOMY.

The most important addon for traffic is the NAM (network addon mod), which you can find in the modsection of simtropolis.

radi6404: Because it is not 3-D, an incredible amount of detail can be seen. Most 3D games during its release time were very simple and lacked detail.

Nexis: Wow, nice job!

Here is another huge one from me. It connects two 12-lane highways with a collector/express system together.

I know it looks complicated, so let me make it easier for you with two examples of traffic movement for northbound traffic. (Start at the start!)

1. Discrete interchanges for collector and express lanes. (No transfers.)
Light Red: Collector lanes (outer lanes)
Dark Red: Express lanes (inner lanes)

2. Full connectivity. (With transfers.) Since this involves both collector and express lanes, colour coding is not necessary.

I hope you enjoyed it!

Best,
-Haljackey

Quite complex, even with the noise walls, that ought to be quite a noisy environment. If it would be a real world highway, it would be quite hard to upgrade in the future.

But its complexity alone is impressive. Thought through.

Good-looking and creative motorway system, although it's pointless because most of the ramps and intersections are of no use as they do the same job as a single stack intersection. But I still love the complexity level of that project

Hi,

I'm a new here to SSC, but I'm a SC4 devotee, and I can't find those highway ramps that I constantly see on these outstanding interchanges. Can somebody help me?

Try Simtropolis, and specifically the Network Addition Mod.

Thanks, Urbanfan.

About making the highways look like they're paved with asphalt, does anyone have more information than just the website, like the name of the download?

And Haljackey, Awesome interchange! How did you get those local lanes (single directional) without using the RHW?

Concerning the asphalt highway textures, you'd have to go to sc4devotion.com and head on over to the BSC Exchange. Under Transport Mods, you'll find the Euro Road textures mod that transforms all of your roads and highways to Euro style roads (mainly striping), which include the asphalt highways. Don't know if you can just apply the asphalt texture to the highways and nothing else.

I stopped playing SC4 at this point because it was just becoming waaaay too time consuming to build well developed cities.

A cloverturbine I once tried to see if I could actually use it while playing the city. It's too large but I like the concept.

It looks really cool but it's easier to use a simple highway junction
