I saw some new cores today at the site of the 25-storey tower. There's a big one with a small one next to it, very similar to the cores of Snowhill hotel. Already the big building is almost as advanced as the Cube! There seems to be a major development everytime I go past, although photographing it is still very hard.

The 11 and 8-storey buildings are progressing well with work well advanced on the lower floors. I can see them being topped out by the end of the year the way they're going.

Can this one be moved into the construction forum and the thread title be updated please? It'll need moving to the completed forum soon.

I've never seen anything quite like that in Wolverhampton before - cores are more like the sort of thing you'd see in cities like Birmingham.

I wonder when it will be visible from Sedgley Beacon.

I have to say I am baffled by the lack of comments on this thread, especially now this has become the tallest U/C building in the Midlands.

There's 50-storeys worth of buildings under construction on this site, yet a 7-storey block in Brum (15 Andover Street) that isn't even approved yet has gained more comments. It's rather perplexing.

Anyway, rant over!

I've looked everywhere for info on the project but I can't find anything other then what has been posted. Wolvo council's planning site is crap compared to Brum's as with most cases you can't view the planning applications.

There's no decent renders, plans or other photo updates anywhere on the internet from what I can tell. I think the people of Wolverhampton will be shocked when this one rises.

It might inspire a surge of new Wolvo forumers! I was one of the wave of forumers who joined when we noticed HCT rising!

Why not try badgering the developer for some info?

I think this gets fewer comments because not many people see Wolves day-to-day. As it rises I am sure interest will be piqued

I would like to see some better renders - are there none on the hoardings?

I do think this is clever - the buildings relate very well, and has anyone noticed in the tower - there is the ground flor, then a section of 2 floors, then a section of 3, then 4,5,6

How did you get them?

The back isn't how I expected it to be but I'm still very happy with it and those aerials/spires/poles will surely take this one way over 80m.

That looks like a modern version of one of my favourite tower blocks in the country. I'm never sure if it is in Glasgow or London but I like it. And I like this tower too!

Just be beware of night time renders...

The core for the big building is now peaking over the hoardings as seen below. Amazing progress since Thursday.

The core for the 11-storey building has also made good progress in the last week.

I suppose I could go downstairs and find out, but I think the construction took about 2 years. Fitting out the inside took up 6 months.

It should be finished in Aughust 09 ready for students to move in.

Did Opal get that world's largest window or whatever it was meant to be?
