What happened to that alternate proposal Of a simple and cheaper option of gutting and refurbishing the old hotel? I thought that was the new plan. I really hope this eventually rises (given that the other proposal is load of crap. )

Yeah, they have supertalls going up like mushrooms over there. And unlike Dubai, I don't see them slowing down either!

Obviously.

Rome, in particular, is the mother of antiquity. No city remotely compares to its vast collection of surviving, ancient structures. London, Paris, etc. are like Houston compared to Rome.

It reminds me of the Transbay Tower going up in SF and the IFC (or is it WTC?) in HK.

same architect, Cesar Pelli. he seems to like this kind of design.

Transbay tower, SF

sfist.com

2 IFC, Hong Kong

nunan-cartwright.com

he also did the Goldman Sachs tower across from the WTC in Jersey City

The design is very good but what I like most about it is the determination of the architect. Every architect should have such determination in his views on what is the best looking design

Me too, I hope this will be built instead of the Hudson Yards cause this building looks far better. Though unfortunately, at the Hudson Yards they can ask a smaller price per square meter

Why will the Hudson yards be so cheap? I think it should've been 100 feet taller it would make more of a lasting impact

Cause unlike other office projects the Hudson Yards don't seek profit from renting office space. They only want to get even. They plan on making profit with nonoffice components
