It's quite likely it will since Vornado was actually approached by companies interested in the tower instead of the other way around. It's got a great location that will only get more desirable once a the new Penn Station is built.

Out of all the towers mentioned, I think that it's down to a contest between either 15 Penn or 50 Hudson, because 15 Penn has the best location, while 50 Hudson would be the cheapest. Since Vornado was the first to mention that they have been recieving lots of interest from potential anchor tenants in addition to halting the 300 million dollar renovation of Hotel Pennsylvania, would it be correct to assume that this tower is infact the one that's the likeliest candidate to get this tenant?

I think that Related can deliver the best deal at 50 HY. Also, Related clearly wants that horrific McD eyesore cleaned up before it starts marketing condos.

That would be a masssive move. How much square foot would they take?

Unclear. Their current HQ in 270 Park in 1.7MM sf, and then they have 383 Madison across the st from that which they got from Bear Stearns which is 1.2MM sf. Total they have about 11MM+ sf in NYC.

They own 383, and I'm fairly certain they own 270 Park as well. I would imagine they would sell one, or both, and then consolidate into a big new tower, say 1.5-2MM sf, and then slowly migrate remaining staff at 270/383 into a less expensive building. 270 and 383 are each worth over $1B, so that would be tempting.

I suspect that they'd take 1m to 1.5m sf and will ship junior lawyers, accountants, HR, etc. To NJ.

that reminds me of what I understand to be the situation with the two Goldman Sachs towers ~across the Hudson from each other.
GS built the one in Jersey City, NJ first as their new HQ but the upper level people resisted working in the new HQ in Jersey.

So GS built a smaller tower in Battery Park City for the upper level employees. And somebody operates a cross-Hudson ferry for GS so that employees don't have to wait for the PATH trains under the river.

Jersey City & Hoboken are booming...

I doubt anybody rational and responsible for big $$$ would count on a new Penn Station being built.

Isn't Vornado kicking some of the long-resident eateries out of the bowels of the current Penn Station??

Indeed.

PMorgan Chase has held talks with major developers about moving its headquarters from Park Avenue to the World Trade Center or the Far West Side — at the same time it is planning to move a “significant” number of employees out of town. As part of an overall real estate reshuffle, the financial giant plans to move an unspecified number of its New York City employees to New Jersey and Delaware, insiders said, although headquarters and trading operations would remain in Manhattan.

The proposed tower was approved, but put to the side in favor of restoring the hotel currently on-site. It never was cancelled per se, evidenced by recent news.

So the title should be proposed, on hold is only for buildings that stopped construction, even buildings that were prep and stop working we consider proposed instead of on hold i think.

Of the Pelli clones around the world, this would easily rank last in attractiveness -- 2 IFC in HK, Salesforce Tower in SF, and Gran Torre in Chile are all superior. But even if this was an improvement, NY shouldn't settle for another re-hash of the only design Pelli seems capable of, especially in such a prominent location. Back to the drawing board, dude.

For comparison:

Why should you call them "clones" it sound like an insult, there are enough differences between designs for not calling them "clones
