It is the "portuguese quarter" which belongs to the districts St.Pauli and Neustadt. Allegedly Germany's (or even Europe`s) biggest portuguese-speaking community is living here.

You live in a nice area I have to say.
well yes I love looking at your pictures again and again. Actually I've been not living in one of these upmarket appartments you shot and moved away from Hamburg in October. But even so, this thread serves as a great memory.

Karo1/4 , (Ottensen is the more interesting part from Altona), and there are some rich and nice areas at the Alster lakes like Harvestehude , Rotherbaum and Eppendorf .There is a street market in Eppendorf /Harvestehude one time a week which is called the longest market (1km) in Germany which is situated completly under the tracks of the elevated train alongside Ise strasse and Ise channel , hence the name Ise markt . To the left and right are in the side streets nice old buildings in white . I know that area and the market only from city guide books and from some rides in the elevated train.
There is anywhere ( Hohe Luft) a street called Flakenried Terrassen and looks for me like a street in NL or GB .But there are tons of interesting areas.

steph 35 , I remember me on your Hamburg threads , can you pull them up or are they deleated ?
