There are plans to rebuild the whole station and these plans include a new entrance towards Dronning Eufemias gate and the new Bjørvika districts. These plans have been delayed though due to discussions about some of the possible solutions they are working on for the rail track area.

Here is how the new stations is intended to appear from Dronning Eufemias gate:

Some historic videos ... The audio is in Norwegian but it provides some nice motion pictures at least.

Talking about ans showing the construction of the post war suburban lines:

From the Holmenkollen line in 1948:

From the opening of the Lambertseter line in 195/.

From 1975:

Thanks for sharing the link
There are more videos on his channel as well. AFAIK there is not allowed with filming through the tunnels, so grab it while you can.

The Gjønnes-Avløs section of the Kolsås line will open on the 15th, with intermediate station Haslum. The Kolsås line is being completely rebuilt and upgraded to "metro standards". The last remaining section to Kolsås will reopen in October 2014.

Here is a test drive of the new Avløs station:

Sporveien Oslo awards depot signalling contract
18 Dec 2013

NORWAY: Sporveien Oslo has awarded Siemens Rail Automation a contract to supply signalling and train control equipment for the new metro depot at Avløs.

Siemens will supply its Trackguard Westrace system and axle counters, controlled from Tøyen using Controlguide Westcad technology.

Avløs depot will be used for stabling Siemens MX metro trainsets from June 2015. The contract award follows contracts for two DC substations for the depot.

The Oslo metro as it is today, inspired by the Moscow system with everything built around a ring. The ring solution was finished a few years ago. The system has many stations, but low frequency because of lack of capacity through city. A new Løren wing and a city tunnel will be built the following years. Parallell to that a new Fornebu line will be built and hoepfully finished by 2025.

The new projects the following years.

2013-2017 Lørenvingen

This will open for 7 minute frequency on line 5 as capacity through the city tunnel is a bottleneck. The new station will be a underground station

2017-2025 the new city tunnel With Løren wing and Fornebu line

A new Bislet station

A new Olaf Ryes plass station

A new Majorstuen station with two platforms and four tracks.

Parallell to that a new a Fornebu line will be built.

A new Lysaker underground station.

The opening of Lørenbanen i 2016 will be a nice sought after update for Oslo metro, and according to this video released today the construction work is going according to plans.

We are in desperate need of a new common (city) tunnel as well, but afaik no conclusion has been made if, where or when it will be built. The cost will be in the billions (2-3 billion USD). The same situation goes for the Fornebu Line and Majorstuen Station.
Bislett and Olaf Ryes Plass may get stations on the new common tunnel, but the final word is certainly not said.

Imo they should build the new common tunnel further north. By running the Forneby line through Lysaker, Skøyen, Majorstuen and then continue Adamstuen, Sagene, Torshov and either end up at Carl Berners Plass or Sinsen. Basically following Kirkeveien, spot in the middle between todays city tunnel and the Ring Line.

It will be some exciting years to come, for sure.

Very good designs for T-bane, I'd like to see them when they would be completed. Any news about Homansbyen station?

I think they will prioritate to build the new city tunnel as fast as possible and delay the construction of Homansbyen station. Buidling a new Homansbyen station will decrease the capacity through city which is the bottlekneck of the system. A new Bislet station will be built instead making a new Homanbyen useless. The old Majorstuen-Nationatheatret tunnel can work well as fast track to city when the parallell tunnel opens.

I think it will be better to accelerate the start-up of the city tunnel instead of building a new Homansbyen station.

First and last, by the look of it.

The Fornebu line could have been metram, e.g. tram to Majorstuen or metro to Grorud, or any other configuration where the metro/train network was used part of the distance, but a handful end stations on a metro line with modest traffic isn't much of an argument.
Integrating the tram and metro networks is as such not a bad idea, but it comes at significant expense for the trains and tracks doing the integration, and in Oslo it has been done at a line with little benefit.

I wouldn't say that the Oslo topology is inspired by Moscow, nor that it has a similar topology. There is a ring, but the purpose is not primarily to transfer between metro lines. All metro lines currently share a common track Majorstuen-Tøyen, which for most cases serve as transfer platform.

The proposed topology for Oslo is a pretzel, one that I've argued it will share with Stockholm.

The Oslo metro has one central tunnel which is the capacity bottleneck and weak point in the system. All trains pass through Majorstuen-Nasjonalteateret-Oslo S-Tøyen, including the circle line, Ringen. A bypass by Løren station under construction (the Løren line) will alleviate the central tunnel a little more, but not by much. The plan of "Oslo SL" (Ruter) is to add another central tunnel Majorstuen-Tøyen, which would add capacity to the system, reduce vulnerability, and add 4-5 new central locations. A blockage in one tunnel could be bypassed in the other.

The existing line is W-shaped line Majorstuen-Tøyen in the map below, while the new is the M-shaped line passing Bislet and Olaf Ryes pl. The tunnels are combined to make this distinctly pretzel-like shape.

The pretzel in Stockholm is a little harder to spot and less evenly divided, but it is there. For Majorstuen-Stortinget-Tøyen Stockholm will have Fridhemsplan - T-Centralen - Gullmarsplan (or where green meet with blue).

(The maps are taken from osloby.no and INFRASTRUKTURnyheter.se respectively.)

If you integrate the tramway system you"ll see that there are a lot of stations where you can transfer line to tram.

Commuter rail, subways and trams all in one map tells so much more of the transit situation in a city than a map of just the subway.
The map is a bit old tho, I see the subway ring wasn't completed when it was made. Is there an updated one?
