Alot of stereotypes at ones there. I'd just like to add that Norwegian workers are among the most efficient in the world, studies says so. And why wouldn't they hire Poles to do all the dirty-work at home, when Poles are willing to work for 20% of a normal salary?

There are alot of very good reasons to save the oil-money for future generations.
* Using too much oilmoney at once would lead to an overheated economy, with escalating paychecks, insane inflation and interesrates going to the roof. All of this would lead to a complete destruction of all export industries in a matter of years.
*The current level of exploitation of oil can only last another 5-10 years. After that the oilwells will dry out. It is therefore extremely shortsighted to use more money in say the public sector at once, since we would become dependent on using the same amount of money also in the future.
* In a decade or so, the share of elderly is going to increase dramatically. We therefore need a huge fund to to pay for this. The alternatives are either dramatically higher taxes in the future, or a much more dramatically pension-reform than what was aproved earlier this year.
* If we can manage to get the value of the oilfund up to say 5000 billion kroner(~780 billion USD), we could have a good time with the profit from the fund, something like 200 billion kroner each year and increasing, forever!! That is a much better investment than to use it all up at once if you ask me!

The future of Norway is totally dependant of us beeing able to handle these absurd amount of money right. Ufortunately, most voters are too dumb to see that

But I agree that Norwegian politicians argue about the smallest things without ever getting anything done.

And to the topic of the thread; nice to finally see the new wagons for real! Do you know when they'll start to test-run them in Oslo?

The increased popularity for the trams, made the tram got 5min

Yes, but they work very well. Some age problems, but they have speed and arent noizy at all. Now the new Siemens wagons will help a lot. First test train will arrive in September/October.

Trams in the snow also with advert ... Warming up?

At Kjelsĺs station.

Beutifull white landskape, when all trees and tougether with sunshine, makes it extra nice travelling with the subway here.

At some points, its hard to define if Oslo system is Metro or Subway. It uses subway wagons all the way, but some can change electric systems.

The fact that Norway ranks 1st in HDI index surprises me. How can ppl enjoy high living standards while suffering the chilly winter ?

I have been to Oslo last May, I found that the modern Oslo trams are pretty good, but I don't really like Oslo Subway.

Here are some more.. These are taken by me:

Řsthorn station at Line 3 with nice weather and lots of snow

Same day, but at Tĺsen station, which is the next station Yes its tagging in Oslo also .. ;p

The next day, even more snow came.. Řsthorn station

Here is the direction towards center. This year about 50cm of snow came during the spring. Its been a cold winter in Oslo this year, compared to most of the winters before. It seems like the global warming isnt taking effect.. but I have a theory and that the polarpoints is changing.

Circle line in Oslo allmost complete!

In August 2006, the circle will be done! People will be able to travel in circle arround Oslo

Line 1 - Metro
Line 2 - Subway
Line 3 - Subway
Line 4 - Metro
Line 5 - Subway

The Subway wagons can have upto 6 wagons. The Metro wagons are 3 or 2 wagons, because of the platforms in the west.

Hehe...

What is the difference then between a Metro and Subway? And light-rail.

Line 1 and Line 3 goes both on overhead electricity and third rail like in Amsterdam etc, where the system is called Metro.

In Oslo it`s T-bane, tunnel bane. But thats going to be over in very few months as Oslos T-bane will switch to OsloMetro.

All of the red wagons will be exchanged with the new MX wagons. It`s been running for a testperiod now, 2 MX wagons since Christmas until Easter.

Now it will be adjusted to what public have argumented about them etc.

So, well... difficult ;p
