This fog is ridiculous. I feel bad for anyone driving, especially those on motorcycles.

Yeah. Be glad this fog is not bad as the one in Bakersfield, CA. That fog is nightmare! It caused too many automobile accidents. It is still going on ever year.

Anyone notice that Seattle smog getting worse recently? I looked at Seattle skyline yesterday on clear day... The sky isn't blue anymore... It is more yellow/orange. Yuck! That remind me of one of my old hometowns, Los Angeles, CA. I hope air pollution will just go away and have blue sky back soon!

Well, smog often times follows blue sky. Smog builds up in the Puget Sound when we have stagnant air (blue sky) for an extended period of time. It doesn't happen nearly as often here as it does in LA but it still does. When a weather system moves through is usually when the smog is cleared from the air.

Just got back from Seaside and Cannon Beach, OR. It was sunny, calm winds and 65 degrees the whole weekend. Tons of people out playing in the water, surfing and laying out in the sun. It was like July but warmer! haha

It was foggy all day today when I was in Bellevue. It is pretty cold tonight as well it's foggy out there still, which means freezing fog. Be careful driving over bridges or somewhere where fog drags on the roads which leaves ice on the roads.

The smog really isn't getting worse, it's just been a long time since we've had an inversion layer quite this persistent. Almost 18 years since the last Stage 2 burn ban.

I disagree. I have been living here for almost four years... Four years ago, Seattle smog wasn't bad as other US cities. Seattle have been growing a lot in the past years, traffics become bad and worse which caused smog to get worse. I also read somewhere over last year ago that some of bad airs came to Northwest region from China, that might be one of main reasons why Puget Sound smog get worse. I hope air quality will improve some when light rail opens this July.

Relax guys. It will all blow away by Fri or Sat and we won't even remember it until next winter. China, yes a problem, barely so, but potentially a much greater one going forward. They are building new coal plants at a rate of one per week, and all that crap blows in this direction. However, do not look to light rail to improve air quality, sadly. Not in our lifetimes anyway.

Trust me, Crazy - I have been living here a zillion years. It's normal.

Potential snowfall Saturday night according to the KOMO forecast. It doesn't look like it'll stick around long (thankfully).

I think it's good we have SSP as a back-up in case this site evaporates some day - like WaMu!

Why couldn't you transfer your name over to here?

Maybe we should just call you The Joose.

Anyway the weather's been boring lately. Any excitement coming up?

Well, there are signs of another possible intrusion of arctic air in the coming weeks as the models as well as the ensembles and means are showing the distinct possibility of another shot of cold and snow but nothing is set in stone just yet... this " If " is still 8+ days away and as a rule of thumb, mets like me don't even talk about anything with certainty this far out, but STAY TUNED !!!!!

Kewel, hope I'm not the only one who has to stay overnight in Phoenix 'cause he missed his connecting flight due to snow.
