Was it not postponed to December? Here it say that limited operations will start in December and full service next year.

By the way, I'm still quite wondering about the pricing policy of non-stop Express service. If the ticket will be ~THB 150 then it is only viable for one person... if there is a group of 2 people then it will cost about the same as taxi (which will be just as fast)... and if there are 3+ people then taxi is cheaper. No? Knowing that most tourists do not come alone and also considering that local residents tend to prefer cars to anything else, I wonder if this is going to be a success? I mean it won't have much of a price advantage but will offer similar travel time and less comfort than taxi.

Those air-con units on-top of the train are massive! Some new trains in UK are air-conditioned but never seen such massive air-con units.

is it just me or do i find the trains much too SHORT to cope with the luggage and people capacity :S... hongkong's airport express is eight cars!... if you want to encourage people to take the train to the airport then you ought to create more motivation by creating larger cars -.-"

Well, they are necessary to turn the 35-45 degrees outside into the 15-18 degrees inside that is customary in Thai public transport

These trains can be coupled in 4+4 (8 carriages) or even 4+4+4 (12 carriages) configurations.

Similar Desiro trains serving London and South East England use 4+4+4 configuration during peak times and 4+4 during other times and 4 during less busy times an/or routes. So if demand will be high, there will be no problem to attach another set of 4 carriages. Of course if the length of platforms will allow that (I bet it won't be a problem).
