Any updates on the Rabbit card fare integration in Bangkok?

Phase I will be ready for the public in July 2016, which can be used with BTS, MRT, SRT, BRT and convenience stores.

Then, before the end of 2016, phase 2 will cover Expressway and Motorway.

Phase 3 will cover the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority bus service, which they will install automatic fare collection systems (E-Ticket) to support a joint ticket.

This obsession with every new line being built miles above ground is rather weird, and costly
Bangkok has no more space to build train line on the ground (except for red line which use the existing SRT preserved land, but even the airport link which share the same route has to be elevated due to space problem). It even gets to the point where the elevate part of the track has to be done on road rather than land.

But if you talk specifically about airport rail link. It doesn't save much more money to just run on the land in some part. Most of the track still run pass city area which require to be elevated. So it might be easier/cheaper to make it elevated all the way though the airport.

I'm relieved that the Grey Line monorail vehicles are actually heavy capacity as the video renders suggested otherwise.

Regarding the SRT lines, video renders show it being partially underground (it's underground but it's open-air). Is there any reason or value for this, given that Bangkok is a flood-prone city?

The reason for why it is below ground (dry canal) is to avoid intersection with cars, and since this is an inner city area, they are not allowed to be elevated.
There's also a palace along the station, and the Airport Rail Link extension will also be below ground in that section, because of that.

Flood problem is not a concern since it will have a pump to pump water up to the top.

Great new posts. The west is still almost a blank spot for mass public transportation. Especially for people who can't talk Thai it is tricky to get around (and Taxis are still the best option for most parts). Especially the link to the old town is still missing and large parts of the more modern parts need a better connection to Siam Square. With the extreme traffic jams, Bangkok urgently needs a more complete network. Good that they are working real hard on getting one.

In a way these above street level stations look pretty bulky and brutalist but also quite impressive and urban.

I like the warm lighting in the BTS......gives it a comforting feel......the white lighting in the RapidKL trains are very glaring....

Yes, "Point NR: 1" is Wat Mangkon MRT Station and another point is Yaowarat Rd or Chinatown.

Points for the animated narrator. I guess his head is supposed to resemble the front of a mass transit train.

Impressive project, too.

Are there any plans to increase the capacity on the blue line (add more cars) when the Purple line and the Red line open? The blue line trains are already very crowded during rush hour and with these two lines feeding in it will likely get more crowded...not to mention the extra riders from the blue line extensions.

I haven't seen any plan for it yet, only that the cars for the purple line will arrive this year.
