Is that amount of settling normal? Looks like a cm of movement. How do they fix that?

Or is that a power cord?

Now compare the above with progress announcement on 2016-04-11 MRTA Facebook page:

Purple line operational on August 12, 2016
Blue line extension operational in 2019
Light Green line South extension operational in 2020
Light Green line North extension operational in 2020

Source: scontent.fbkk2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/t31.0-8/12973225_1680704965479564_3038348264328423120_o.jpg

So which dates are more accurate?

It's a bit strange that Samut Prakarn to Bang Pu would be operational before Bearing to Samut Prakarn!

(Note that the BTS Group names the Sukhumvit line as the "dark green line" and Silom line as "light green line" which can make things a bit more confusing. On Google Maps the Sukhumvit line is light and Silom line is dark.

I also found funny that the MRTA chose to color the text of "Light Green line South extension" in dark green in their announcement, which can also add some more confusion.)

This issue has a lot to do with outdated info from various sources so it is out of sync.

BTW, purple line will be opened by Princess Sirindhorn on 6 August 2016

More likely power cord, not cement cracks

She wrongly states that the Purple Line and Blue Line are the responsibility of SRT.

Definitely a power cord, you can see the cable all the way to the waterproof inline plug and socket.

Those are MRTA lines, so MRTA is the accurate source here, however you quote an old progress report from MRTA.

Purple line will open on August 6. Some station of blue line and light green line south extension will open as they are ready.

Light green line north and south extension has the same opening date, because they are waiting for new trains procurement and for BMA to get the right to operate the train for the whole line (which they just did). When the contract is signed then the "placeholder date" for the south extension will change.

Thank you for your response, Codename B.

I like your frequent progress updates, though I wish it also included expected operating dates (even if some of them are just guesses), like your excellent post in October 2015: skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=128003635&postcount=1300.

Does MRTA publish target operating dates for all of their lines? MRTA's announcement last month that I mentioned above stated operational dates only for the 4 routes under construction.

Your information appears to be more reliable than that from BTS Group. So can you give us your own current best guesses of the operating dates of each of the lines? i.e. basically just change each "2xxx" in the table below to your own expectation or informed guess (and add "early", "mid", or "late" if you know more):

Code:
Line Route Operate Date
Purple Bang Yai - Bang Sue 2016-08-06

Blue Hua Lamphong - Bang Khae 2019
Blue Bang Sue - Tha Pra 2019

Light Green South Bearing - Samut Prakarn 2020
Light Green North Mo Chit – Saphan Mai – Khu Khot 2020
Light Green Samut Prakarn - Bangpu 2xxx

Dark Green Bang Wa - Borommaratchachonnani 2xxx

Dark Red Bang Sue - Rangsit 2xxx
Dark Red Rangsit – Thammasart University 2xxx
Dark Red Bang Sue - Hua Lamphong 2xxx

Light Red Bang Sue - Phayathai – Makkasan 2xxx
Light Red Makkasan – Hua Mark 2xxx

Lrt Bang Na - Suvarnabhumi 2xxx

Grey (Phase I) Watcharaphon – Thong Lo 2xxx

Pink Khae Rai – Pak Gred – Min Buri 2xxx

Yellow Lad Prao – Sam Rong 2xxx

Another glaring example of the level of incompetence in Thailand. As a farang, I will never understand how the Thai people place so much emphasis on of face yet demonstrate very little or if any common-sense and / or practical intellect.
Never forget about the political football between NESDB who insists bidding even for 1-km extension due to their bureaucratic nature vs. MRTA who want a quick and convenient connection between purple line and blue ring.

BTW, losing faces always means losing everything ... so face saving must be implemented at all cost.

MRTA publish the things in quarterly manner so it cannot be updated in a daily basis

Most of the stuff I post here is a translation of many thai news (which usually have more details than the english one) and also occasionally insider knowledge from Thai Rail Lover Facebook Group.

Here's the latest opening date for all the lines

Mainly based on latest thai news reports and MRTA and SRT own estimates.

Excellent! Thank you for the dates and short comments for each route. They will probably change later, but at least it gives everyone a much clearer idea at this moment of when things may happen.

For now, better just focus on the construction year or month, as many lines will be up for bidding this year.

Is archstudent's superb rail map from 2013-12-02 the latest version?

The map is hosted here: upic.me/i/4k/bangkok_mrt_masterplan_eng.jpg

If there is no newer version, what parts of it are now incorrect?

I'm wondering in particular whether there should be Pradiphat station (below Bang Sue) on the Light Red and Dark Red lines. See:
wikipedia.org/wiki/SRT_Light_Red_Line
wikipedia.org/wiki/SRT_Dark_Red_Line
wikipedia.org/wiki/Pradiphat_Station

Did SRT remove Pradiphat station from their plan?
