people found water leaks from the roof of T1 terminal. If you went to Noi Bai recently, you must see many plastic buckets in the terminal...hehehe

I saw that once , a few months ago , it was in front of the immigration area .

T1 is very ugly , that's one of the reason i hope they will build T2 soon , and hopefully T2 will be serparated from T1 with totally new design .

But no pics about T2 to be found yet .

Noi Bai Terminal 1 is one of the worst structure of its type in the world. Vietnam Construction Companies throughout of Vietnam cannot built such big scale projects. If you wanna it be good, please do not give any job to the local Contractor. They are in short of competence, poor ability, blind engineering eyes...

Say no to all: VINACONEX, LILAMA, LICOGI, HANOI CORP....They are all suck!

I just read some stas about Vietnam's airport , here are what I remember so the numbers may not be 100% true but close to :

-- Noi Bai T1 cost about 75 millions USD to build , the cost of construction consultant and design about 700000 USD --very cheap because it was done by Vietnamese 100% . At the beginning , the Goverment consider hiring an international company to build T1 and they asked for about 170 millions for T1 and about 10 millions USD for themself for designing and consulting and so on ........ The Goverment chose the cheaper plan .

-- Tan Son Nhat International Airport cost 220 millions USD to build and 20 millions USD for foreigner for designing and consulting .......

-- Noi Bai T2 will need about 840 millions USD to build , 40 millions for foreigner for designing and consulting .........

my uncle is a veteran officer in TSN, he told me that the cost is actually $400m, he even show me 2 final master plans of Long Thanh airport (Phase 1), and believe me, it's really huge! Too bad it won't start before 2010, coz the government made Noi Bai 2 their first priority for investment at the moment.

From 200 to 400 millions is a big difference and yet no offical confirm, the press doesn't know anything ? I found it very strange and hard to believe .

About Long Thanh , i don't think it was postponed because the goverment consider Noi Bai 2 first , remember the intital plan for Noi Bai 2 cost only 300 millions , why Long Thanh Phase 1 is about 3,5 billion $ .

Long Thanh will always costs 10 times as Noi Bai does . If Noi Bai cost around 1/2 Long Thanh , the goverment really has to chose between them , but here only 1/10 .

The more accurate reason maybe the fact that Long Thanh is simply too big for Viet Nam now while Tan Son Nhat new terminal still can run well in the next 10 years . So it was left until 2010.

Also Noi Bai 2 is very urgent indeed . T1 is nearly full now and in the next 3 years the passengers maybe double . If they don't build T2 from now , in the near future plande may not be able to land at the airport because it was packed .

The current new terminal is just Phase 1, Phase 2 will commence in 2010 but previously was stated to be FINISHED by 2010. And $400m is for all of them.

Don't they forecast 100 millions passengers per year for Long Thanh Airport?
I wonder where they get all those passengers, if a big airport like Atlanta only got 89 million?

Long Thanh Airport project is divided into 3 phrases: before 2010: 20m, from 2010 to 2020: 40m, after 2020: estimate 80-100m.

Have you noticed that currently we have a World Financial Crisis? The officials are maybe occupied with different tasks, because this project is surely under supervision by high levels.
