Lovely, i have read a little bit about the Algiers subway in the past. This will bring the total subway/metro systems in Africa to 3 when we include the Egypt metro and the Gautrain in Johannesburg (under construction).
How fast can the trains go with the Algiers subway and how many kilometers does the whole track covers? Also how much is Algeria investing in this subway in total? I understand that its due to go live in the next few weeks/months? |

The Gaama group which carried out the first section quoted of 250 million euros including/understanding the realization of a multimode station (drunk subway/train//taxis) on the level of the railway station of El Harrach. Two other extensions of line 1 are envisaged to the horizon 2010: of “Tafourah” towards “place of the Martyrs” of Haï El Badr " towards “Aïn Naâdja” It is envisaged the delivery 14 trains of 6 cars each one. Each oar a 108 m length can transport to 1.216 people including 208 sitted places. the subway of Algiers will allow the displacement of 41.000 travellers/hour, that is to say 150 million travellers/year with intervals of exploitation going until less than 2 minutes. Of a speed of 70 km/h, the subway will be open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. |
