Kosovo and Vojvodina, if the breakup of Serbia continues at the rate of the last 20 years...

Lots of countries appeard after that road atlas was published in 1987. Only YU split up in 7 different countries. CS became 2 countries and SSSR 15 countries !

and the GDR ceased to exist.

Actually if living in the GDR you got a noticable increase in quality of life after the wall came down.

Kosovo is already indipendent and recognized by around half countries of the world.

Yes, but not by Serbia itself, nor by UN, nor by EU, nor by the other half of the countries in the world. This is not independence to me.

Oh dear. I seem to remember a thread about borders being deleted, not long after someone alleged it was politically motivated. It struck me the complaint was rather more political than the original post.

This thread seems to me to be about maps. Road maps, that is, not geopolitical ones.

Also in Caucasus area political changes are likely to happen in the future. There are some territories disputed between different countries.

Since I live in Vojvodina I have to say something. Why would Vojvodina separate from Serbia? Serbs are majority in Vojvodina and it is totaly different situation from Kosovo. Many minorities live here peacefuly. Of course, some people don't like Serbia, so they wish that breaking up to continue...keep on dreaming.

On the other hand, in my opinion, Austrian "Freytag & Berndt" has the best road maps of Europe.

There was a lively discussion in Finland in early 1990's about whether to join the European Union or not.

Someone was joking by predicting the number of countries in Europe in 2010 being 20: The EU, Finland, and 18 Yugoslavias.
