BUENOS AIRES: From The National Congress to The Pink House and Bonus (((New Pics)))

Argentina National Congress

Situated at the end of Avenida de Mayo, at the other end of which is located the Pink House

Argentina's parliament was designed by the Italian architect Vittorio Meano, the building was under construction between 1898 and 1906. (80 m)

In front of the building lies the Square of the Two Congresses.

Avenida de Mayo

Avenida de Mayo (English: May Avenue), is located in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina. This avenue connects Plaza de Mayo (May Square) with Plaza de los Dos Congresos (Square of the Two Congresses), which extends 1,500 metres in a west-east direction before merging into the Rivadavia Avenue.

As well as the Plaza de Mayo (May Square), the avenue was named after the 1810 May Revolution, which concentrated crowds at the Plaza, though the right wing of the Buenos Aires Cabildo stood on the current position of the avenue.

Avenida de Mayo was inspired by Madrid's Gran Vía. The avenue is often compared with those of Madrid, Barcelona and Paris due of its sophisticated buildings of art Nouveau, neoclassic and eclectic styles.

The decree 437/97 of the National Executive Branch declared the Avenue a national historic site in 1997. As a result the aesthetics of the buildings could not be changed, including billboards and marquees. Any modifications have to be approved by the National Commission of Monuments and Historic Sites

Argentina National Bank

The Pink House

La Casa Rosada (English: "the Pink House"), officially known as the Casa de Gobierno ("Government House") or Palacio Presidencial ("The Presidential Palace"), is the official seat of the executive branch of the government of Argentina.

The Casa Rosada was built at the eastern end of the Plaza de Mayo, a large square which since the founding of the city of Buenos Aires has contained the top political institutions of Argentina. The current building, however, dates back only to 1873 and was constructed over the foundations of an earlier customs house, post office, and fortress. Its balcony, which faces the square, has served as a podium for many figures, Madonna sang her filmed rendition of the song "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" for the movie Evita,

Mix of Styles in front of May Square

Reconquista and Independencia corner: toward to the financial centre of the city

Nice building in Bolivar street, going to San Telmo district

Diagonal Norte

Going back to May Square, born this amazing avenue called "Diagonal Norte"

Going to Puerto Madero district, is located this marvelous building, "Communication Secretary"

Puerto Madero

Puerto Madero is a district of Buenos Aire and it represents the latest architectural trend in Buenos Aires City.

New residential high-rise buildings of up to 50 storeys are being build facing the Rio de la Plata, these include El Mirador of Puerto Madero Towers, Renoir Towers, El Faro Towers, Chateau Tower of Puerto Madero and Mulieris Towers amongst others. Many other high-rises that have recently been inaugurated include the Le Parc Tower and Hilton and River View Towers. Office and hotel high-rises are also being built such as the Repsol YPF Headquarters and the Conrad Buenos Aires Hotel & Resort with construction slated to begin at the end of 2008 and completion scheduled for late 2010.

The recently inaugurated modern Tramway (Tranvía del Este) line serves the area, it runs alongside the west side's of Alicia Moreau de Justo Avenue. However, the neighborhood is still not well-connected to the city's transit network. Few bus routes run through Puerto Madero, no subway line reaches it and currently there are no official plans to extend the subway network to the neighborhood in spite the fact that further extensions of the tramway are planned that will link the Retiro and Constitución terminal train stations

Greetings from Argentina!!!

True, some buildings remind me of Gran Vía in Madrid or some other streets. I hope I can visit Buenos Aires soon.
