Anyone know where you can buy a Leeds scarf in the city centre? Wanted to get one before going abroad, but couldn't find one anywhere. Plenty of Chelsea, Man Utd etc though.

Have LUFC sunk that low that you can't even buy a scarf now, or has the bearded one stopped anyone selling them outside of official shops at ER itself?

Quite depressing reading ol' Caryl Phillips' account of watching Leeds United as a black man in the 1960s and '70s in his New World Order, including him and a mate being pelted with coins in the family stand because a black player scored for Fulham. There really are some ******* in Leeds. I'd like to think society has moved on from then, but I'm not so sure.

I haven't seen any bar scarfs in the market. The only place I've seen them is in the club shop, which of course is now at Elland Road only. Why not buy one on-line (e bay)? Toffs do a cashmere version for 40 notes.

Irritated by Phillips' comments about Leeds in his recent account of the David Oluwale affair, with his references to 'fascist south leeds', the neat lawns and 'closed minds' of Bramhope and some really quite offensive remarks about Leeds people being 'known for drinking and gambling' and resistant to outsiders. He's almost as chippy as I am!

Leeds United: Hereford v United clash postponed

Leeds United

03 January 2009
Leeds United's Coca-Cola League One clash with Hereford United this afternoon has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
Match referee Graham Horwood inspected the pitch at Edgar Street at 9am this morning and made a quick decision to postpone the match.

A new date for the fixture is yet to be arranged.

Leeds United are next in League One action against Carlisle United at Elland Road on Saturday.

Article in today's YEP that FM radio broadcast rights for Leeds United have bizarrely in my view been given to York based Minster FM. Wouldn't it have been more common sense to have given these rights to a Leeds based radio station to ensure more listeners in the Leeds area which Minster FM could be hard to receive unless your in a car? I take it BBC Radio Leeds still don't have any rights to Leeds matches and I presume the likes of Real Radio or Radio Aire (who I remember had formerly broadcasted Leeds games until about 5 years ago) didn't pay enough or were interested in paying Ken the rights to broadcast Leeds matches. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.u...hes.4844749.jp

Also could this raise questions as to the viability of Ken Bates' vanity project of Yorkshire Radio considering that previously had exclusive Leeds United match rights? How many people listen to that station?

FM coverage for Leeds matches

Leeds United have announced that live radio commentary of their first-team fixtures will be broadcast on Minster FM with immediate effect.
The commercial station has struck a deal with Yorkshire Radio which will see commentary of Leeds games broadcast on an FM frequency for the first time since Yorkshire Radio secured exclusive rights to live coverage at the end of last season.
Minster FM will begin broadcasting Yorkshire Radio's matchday programmes during this weekend's clash between Leeds and Carlisle United at Elland Road, and the agreement runs until the end of this season.
Leeds were criticised last year following their decision to hand sole broadcast rights to digital station Yorkshire Radio and turn down an offer from BBC Radio Leeds, a move which left no FM coverage of their fixtures.
Yorkshire Radio station director Ben Fry said: "We've already received tremendous feedback to our coverage and working with Minster FM will help us further enhance our service."
Minster FM is available on 104.7 FM.
Also the Hereford United - Leeds United game has been rescheduled for Tuesday 17th February. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.u...ash.4843886.jp

Leeds United's visit to Hereford United has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 17.
The clubs have agreed a new date for the League One fixture after their proposed meeting at Edgar Street on Saturday was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Leeds will now travel to Hereford next month for a 7.45pm kick-off, with the game falling between their matches against Huddersfield Town and Cheltenham Town.

Tickets bought for the original date remain valid for next month's clash.

I don't get this at all. As someone who works in radio, I don't see how Minster will gain advertising revenue or audience in its broadcast area which is York/North Yorkshire from this deal, (which is the ultimate aim in broadcasting the matches). The Minster signal in Leeds is poor to say the least, so Leeds United fans will find it difficult to pick up the commentary anywhere outside North Leeds. This has to be a lose lose situation.

This sounds like Ken Bates is just trying to upset the established Leeds based stations because of fall outs in the past and high fees which the Leeds stations would not accept.

As far as I know Minster covers most of North Yorks - and there are a lot of Leeds fans in North Yorks - no other big teams in the area really. Also not sure how good DAB reception of Yorkshire Radio is once you get out that far?

Minster doesn't cover Harrogate. Well, in some areas you can pick it up (as you can in Leeds), but Harrogate has it's own station Stray FM. Minster is really only for York and the surrounding area- maybe the East coast as well don't know? Really odd choice.

I should be able to get it as I'm only about 20 miles from York and have caught reception by mistake in the past. Will be checking that out this evening. Anyone know if matches will be broadcast online? I doubt it very much, as most deals seem to preclude that, but there is very little detail on the Minster website.

LUFC site is reporting that Lee Trundle is coming in on a month's loan,

http://www.leedsunited.com/page/Late...514256,00.html

A very skilful player and should add something to our options up front. I just hope he hasn't piled on any more weight as we already have one "well built" scouser in Robinson.

Good spotting Bradley, Trundle was a Soccer A.M. favourite and a dazzeling player at lower leagues. Not heard anything about him since he went to Bristol.

And it looks like a new coach/ assistant manager will be joining shortly.

Top flight coach on way to Leeds

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has revealed that he has agreed a deal to bring in a former Premier League coach.

Grayson is keen to bring in another coach to work alongside Ian Miller, but has faced a few stumbling blocks.

"The person I am trying to bring in has been working at a Premier League club who have just changed manager," Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds.

"He is on gardening leave currently trying to sort his money out with them and then he'll join us."

Grayson added: "We've agreed everything in principle with him.

"It's just basically him getting the money from the club that currently employs him but he isn't actually working there at the moment.

"He's worked at two or three Premier League clubs in the past and I wouldn't be bringing him here if I didn't think he'd be a big acquisition to us."
This could be Archie Knox who was recently released from Blackburn when Ince was given the push. Knox is a vastly experienced number 2 who has worked with Fergie at both Aberdeen and some other club, assisted Walter Smith at Rangers as well as working at other Premier League clubs and in the Scotland set-up.

Another possibility os Glyn Snodin who left West Ham earlier in the season and who, of course, has Leeds connections and would have been at Elland Road at the same time as Grayson.

Your on a role now Bradley, but I thought the current LUFC policy was to only sign players on perminent contracts and not have any loan signings. At least it was under Maca.

Grayson is an expert at playing the loan market and I'm sure there is a role for it in moderation. Freedman revitalised the side last season, for example. I think Trundle's signing, though, may be a short term expedient to deal with an injury crisis - Beckford can't seem to shake off hamstring problems, Christie went off injured in the ressies game the other night (and is a walking medical dictionary anyway) and there's a rumour going round (which might be wholly unfounded)that Showunmi has a lung problem that will keep him out for the season.

Surely if thats the case a more permanent replacement is needed, what about getting Kandol back.

Yes - probably true and Kandol may be the man but Millwall have him for a week or two yet until his loan agreement expires. It may not be that easy to get anyone else in permanently before the last-minute rush that characterises transfer windows. I think Grayson is just looking at putting out fit strikers for the next few games.
