Good to see its developing, but is there a big need in so many tower hotels? I mean it looks like a closed country with very few people to visit. So?

Cambodia is next to the ocean so I don't think it's closed lol.
From what I read, there aren't enough housing even for the population of the growing city, so yes they should build more. From what my mom's friend told me, the population of Phnom Penh is about 2 million or more so yea it's right that they build more for the population.

Happiness City to get mall and luxury resort
Written by Soeun Say
Wednesday, 07 January 2009

A $50 million mixed-use complex under construction will complete a
satellite city on Phnom Penhĺs Chruoy Changvar peninsula

CONSTRUCTION is under way on a US$50 million mixed-use retail,
residential and leisure complex in the Happiness City housing
development on Phnom Penh's Chruoy Changvar peninsula, Russei Keo
district.

Tep Rathavan, general manager of Happiness City, said Young's
Commercial Center and Resort would be completed by 2011.
"We will invest about $50 million to create a high-class mall like the
Sorya Shopping Centre," he said.

The 100,000-square-metre complex is to include a modern-format
shopping mall, shophouses for residential or office use, a movie
theatre and a rooftop resort featuring stand-alone motel units,
landscaped gardens and a swimming pool. It will also contain a fitness
centre, steam sauna and play areas for children.

Chean Dara, project manager of the development, said $8 million had
already been spent preparing the foundations, which required filling
and consolidating the reclaimed swampland and driving foundation piles
down to solid ground.

I don't think this 60 story project is a reality. It is just a dream of someone.

Chadster,

I see SeeMacau changed the height of the Camko buildings to 14 stories now.
Question: Are all 16 buildings under construction now, or only four or five that are under construction now?

Thanks

The building was only 12 floors from what I first saw on the other rendering, but when I count the number of floors in the construction pic below it seems to be 14 floors.

Anyway, I have no idea about how tall the building is, and how many of these towers are under construction. Anyone knows?

I think it is around that floor 14-15.
It is very difficult to see how many towers are being contructed now because it is not allowed to go inside,. but from what I saw I think maybe around 7-8 towers are on contruction and a lots of town-houses also being constructed. http://worldcitycambodia.com/

Sopheaktr,

What is the settings in the computer that allows me to read khmer normally. The text is always too small whenever it is in khmer.
By the way, what languages do you speak and where is your work based? When I heard you saying, " during my stay in Phnom Penh", I assume you are from somewhere else. I am afraid that when you leave Phnom Penh, there are no more pictures to see.

Construction updates is what give us hope

I guess we will not see any new picture for a while since Sopheaktr is gone for four months. Anyone in PP who can take pictures and update us on progress at GT42, River Palace 31, IFC 52 and so on. I just want to know if the projects are still on or cancelled. River Palace 31 has been on the news for a long time now that progress should be seen from a few km.
