Yes, it is progressing well but still behind schedule. Phase I is suppose to be completed this year but it looks like it's going to take another year or so. Only 50-60% complete as of now.

I am surprised that there are 3,000-5,000 workers. That's the size of a small town or village. With that amount of workers, it's going to require a lot of training so that might be the reason for the delay of phase I.

Anyways, the project looks awesome, kinda remind me of one of many mega projects in Dubai, where they are popping up in the middle of nowhere. Anyone notice the master-plan has changed. Compare the showcase model of CamKo that was displayed at MIPIM Asia 2008, to that of the original model on the company's website and you can see a big difference. Looks like they expanded it?

hey nice update guys, I'm so glad to see my country finally develop...Cambodia is truly a Gem. My mom wants me to go with her to Cambodia, I believe in a month or two...I'm kind of hesitant to go because of the big culture shock I'd be facing, because I have been living in Canada all my life and never stepped outside of it...but I'll most likely stay in a hotel for the majority of my stay if I were to go. I asked this before, but no one replied so I am going to ask again...can anyone tell me the prices of the condo units in Cambodia?are they cheap??how much would it cost in approximately Canadian currency?? I'm very interested in a lot of the high rises, and if the cost is not to much I will consider purchasing a unit.
These High-rises are so beautiful, I would like to try to get a nice condo before the housing market in Cambodia Sky-rockets

To answer your question, it really depend on what type of condo, that is, the developer and the location of the condo. For Camko city, according to Cambodia Estate Agent (CEA),a 3 bedrooms high rise condo will cost you about USD 130,000. I am assuming most of the high rise condos in development are somewhere in this price range. But for Gold Tower 42, the prices for the condos are much higher, I believe most of the units are sold already, and they range from USD 459,000 to USD 1,500,000.

Here are some sites to check out for prices and if you are really serious about buying a condo, you should contact one of their sales representative:

Thank you so much Chadster, I'm now looking forward to the next couple of months when I visit Cambodia and I'll be looking more into purchasing a unit in Cambodia Thank you very much. I'm very serious about buying a condo considering the fact that they are much more cheaper than anywhere in Canada, and why not buy one in the motherland . Also most of the of the condo's look much more luxurious, including a better interior than most high-rises condominiums I see here and the architecture is amazing.

I'm curious on how most people of Cambodia can afford such a place?? I am aware of how poor the country is and not many people in Cambodia can afford 130,000 usd?? Are most buyers foreigner's or locals??? Or does the government provide some soft of special for the citizens of the country?

I think the buyers are both locals and foreigners, many being Cambodians abroad from such places as Canada, America, Australia, and Europe. As for the local citizens, land prices in Cambodia has sky-rocketed compare to the prices a decade or two ago. From what I heard, many Cambodians, especially those in the central Phnom Penh area are selling, or I should say, were selling their homes (villas, townhouse, plot of land, etc.,) at very high prices and making huge profits, some being in the hundreds of thousands of USD. These individuals are the locals buying the townhouses, villas and condos on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, in places such as Camko City, where prices are lower than that of central Phnom Penh. Also, Cambodia is a very corrupted country. Most of the rich Cambodians are those that work for the government. They are the ones driving the Lexus and buying land all over Cambodia because they are the ones pocketing all the corruption money.

Anyway, good luck on your future purchase. I hope everything goes well for you. Also note that if you are a foreigner, you are not allow to own property in Cambodia unless you have a local individual helping you out.

Yes, it is just a rendering but the company just recently updated the images so I hoping that the plans are being finalized and construction should be starting soon. I read that the company is busy with projects in Vietnam and because of that, they are delaying this project in Phnom Penh.

First Starbucks opens in Phnom Penh

It was talked about since long ago, but it could never be confirmed. Today, it is a done deal though: the first Starbucks Coffee will open its doors in a few days in Phnom Penh, inside The Place complex on Sihanouk Blvd.

The famous green logo will now sits in the entrance to the new sport and restaurant complex located the heart of the city, next to the Independence Monument. Following the opening of Pizza company, Swensen’s ice cream and KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), it is now the turn of Starbucks to leave its mark in Cambodia’s capital. According to the license owner who declines to talk publicly, the opening of this coffee shop, albeit the first one, is far from being the last one either. Cambodge Soir Hebdo was not able to glean additional information on the arrival of the coffee and retail giant which is now available in Cambodia.

Started in Seattle in the 70s, the first Starbucks shop earns its name from the US novel “Moby Dick” by Herman Melvilles.

For the past 10 years, the Starbucks phenomenon never ceases to grow. Currently, Starbucks has more than 9,000 shops spread in 30 countries in the world. Starbucks is omnipresent in all of Asia, in particular in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand.

OMGOSH...I'm not a big fan of starbucks =\ however in the cities i have visited there is a starbucks on every street corner it's ridiculous...I have a feeling Phnom Penh will be no exception but it's good for the city, bringing more franchises to the area.
MORE JOBS!!!

Maybe he's the one who's able to get the franchise for Cambodia. Usually, the first one who gets the franchise may get the rights to operate a certain company's name in the country.
