@Embrace: if by IFC you mean International Finance Complex on Sothearos, i heard the project was canceled.

I have some questions, if some of you have the answer, please share your info!

- What is the status of the Sokimex projects?

http://www.sokimex.com.kh/future_projects/index.html#
http://www.sokhahotels.com/new/?pg=new

more precisely, does anyone know if Sokha Beach Resort is completed (i do not plan on going to Sihanoukville right now ), if the Chrouy changva development project is still active (or if only the hotel remains), and is the Beong Chhouk Township is real?

Anyway i plan on going to see by myself one of these days

- Is Bellus Angkor under construction?

- Where is The Sky appartment situated?

- And last: do anyone know what are the building in construction next to De Castle Diamond?

Thank you all for you answers!

Bellus Angkor city and resort is under construction right now! The opening ceremony should take place this month! Roads are already paved but the construction buildings will start on December! IFC is on hold not canceled.

GS Engineering group is one of the top company in South Korea! The likely thing they would do is scale down the projects which they did already! It will probably start by next year since it is soon to be the tallest skyscraper in Phnom Penh!

1$ Billion project in Takhmao, Kandal Province

Companies announce $1b project in Kandal
Friday, 23 October 2009 15:01 Nguon Sovan

FRENCH and South Korean companies announced a deal late Wednesday on what would be Kandal province’s largest development project, a proposed US$1 billion satellite city.

At a signing ceremony in Phnom Penh, South Korea’s Global Digital Media Group (GMG) and France-based Green Gold Holdings Ltd (GGH) approved a memorandum of understanding to develop the 2,890-hectare site in Takhmao district, a project that will take until 2023 to finish, according to company documents.

“The land for the investment plan is already owned by GMG,” said Yoo Ri-na, CEO of GMG, at the launch.

The project includes residential areas, a business district and education and research centres, according to documents.

Michael Cheong, CEO of France-based Green Gold Holdings Ltd, told reporters after the signing ceremony that his company will invest the necessary $1 billion in an arrangement that will see its counterpart manage the development.

“We decided to invest … because there is political stability in Cambodia,” he said after the signing event, adding the two firms would soon submit a proposal to the Council for the Development of Cambodia.

Despite the scale of the project, the numerous government officials present at the signing ceremony declined to comment on the proposed investment, saying it had not yet been approved by CDC.

“This is the biggest project in the province. At this stage, I cannot give any comment to avoid a rise in land prices in the area. It is the companies’ confidential business,” said Kandal province Governor Chhun Sirun.

That's this project that thekh posted a while back:

Some more info. about the project:

Quote:
S. Korea's GMG investment company, in a joint venture with GGH, has on 21st October signed an investment agreement with the Kandal Provincial Authority to build a one billion dollar satellite city in the province, reports Koh Santepheap Daily.

The new modern satellite city, which will be equipped with commercial, industrial, administrative, cultural, media and entertainment centres, will be called U-City and will be built on 2,890 hectares of lands in the vicinity of the provincial town, located 13 kilometres from Phnom Penh City.

GMG had an interest in building a Cambodian satellite city when it sent delegates to accompany S.Korean President Roh Mo-Hyun's official visit to Cambodia in 2006.

According to GMG's master plan, the new satellite U-City will contain three important quarters and that is a Global Media Centre which will house seven state of the art media outlets, Angkor Arts University which will offer arts and other tertiary courses and Online Entertainment and Gaming Facilities in the hope to generate incomes to fund the Angkor Arts University.

Officials hope that U-City will also become a tourist attraction for local as well as foreign tourists.
