Weisheit, I forgot to point out, regarding your inquiry about Lymmo and its service schedule and route... all I can say is that you should come to downtown, b/c if someone is halfway familiar with downtown Orlando, they know the route, the stops, and the frequency of the Lymmo line. That's Downtown 101.

I know MNeimann addressed this issue above, but my point is that I'm wondering just how familiar with downtown you are, or anyone else for that matter that doesn't live downtown and/or work downtown daily or frequent it at least weekly.

See, my perspective is a little skewed but not b/c of the pixie dust coming here upwind from Disney, but b/c I know a lot of people downtown; people in government, construction, retail, bar and restaurant owners, art dealers and promoters, property managers, commercial realtors, developers, residents, and other businesspeople.

This is what makes up the "fabric" of a city. Quantifying how "urban" it is is usually done by people that don't live here, b/c, the ones that do live here, they're too busy living it to worry about non-residents' perspectives.

My only interest is for people in general to keep it real...

All I can say is I was in DT Orlando over the holiday on a Thursday afternoon and it was hoppin'. Way to go Orlando!

Also, as far as I remember the Lymmo is just a downtown loop designed to hit the downtown points but the metro wide bus system, Lynx, is fairly extensive and clean.

At a distance of about 5k miles, that's gonna be tough.

Well its been five years since living in Florida, but as I've said multiple times now.....

...Orlando, the city, is NOT urban, irregardless of the urbanity of DT. A tiny urban core surrounded by sprawl (and asphalt) doesn't make a city urban.

I don't need DT 101. I need only look at a map to see DT is but a tiny neighborhood in the center of massive urban sprawl. Which perfectly meshes w/ my original statement.

I never said DT wasn't urban. I said it was semi urban and lacking infrastructure, and I stick by that statement. A bus looping your neighborhood doesn't amount to passable mass transit.

I know; it's a thread about the Great Wheel going off of I-Drive and people start going berzerk, b/c I-Drive is technically the city and not the theme parks, so they make it their primary goal to push their views that they think Orlando has nothing to offer other than WDW and Universal.

and then they start hacking on Orlando the city, from a third party's perspective, without even knowing facts to at least make an educated opinion about it. typical... typical of the cr@p I've seen on these boards and continue seeing.

And I'm fed up with this, b/c somehow or another, it alway ultimately has to do with someone who has some sort of ties with Tampa, like this latest poster who lives 5,000 miles away, and our old friend Zerobullchip who finally came out of the closet on this of all threads, as OBC.

Yes most might be from tampa or other florida cities, but i think most japanese and other foreigners would have 0 problem with this and like it

I hope the design is more like yokohama and not london though just because of the box things.

for that area, here's what is U/C:

1. Peabody 35 story, 750 rm tower with 7+ story parking deck and convention facilities which ties the complex to the elevated walkway connecting both convention halls. This thing is huge; it literally triples or quadruples Peabody's footprint and completely fills in any development gaps between Pointe Orlando and the N/S Tower ala I-Drive, which is the main benefit I've noticed

2. Hilton 1,400 rm, 20+ story tower with convention rms, parking deck, and skywalk to N/S Bldg. (SE corner), situated on its SE side right before the 528/I-Drive ramp.

3. Harbor Square at Vista Cay-- mixed use centerpiece of rental community to east of N/S bldg. before Shingle Creek Resort. Headliner Walgreens as main retail tenant.

... did I miss anything else? Rosen has not yet started on his proposal to add to the Rosen Plaza (opposite Pointe Orlando to the west, with another tower, retail, and skywalk to Pointe Orlando and OCCC West Bldg.

you will be shocked at the number of projects are announced around the world
and more than 40 % are on hold / cancelled
and 80 % of all projects are late / delayed by 3 to 5 or even more years
it amazes me that why that happens

I was merely giving an update for that area... its what I do.

As for Peabody, 35 stories; the floor plates don't look very tall-- low ceilings; no more than Peabody's 28 story tower. I think it will be taller than 55W which is 32 stories with a roof decoration. I think it will cap out with its spire deal at about 400' or more. The first couple of levels will be tall ceilings of course/ lobby;mezzanine etc.

What's the deal with this? From what I read, they still have plans to open it in 2010. Has it even started?

Probably a dead project. Who wants to pay for a glorified ferris wheel in this economy?

From Wikipedia...In early 2009, it was announced that the project had been "suspended" (but not cancelled) after losing its funding as a result of the international credit crunch. On Hold not dead, don't close!

Rising 400 feet (122 meters) above the earth. This iconic structure will offer ever-changing views above one of the country’s top tourism destinations. It is scheduled to open in 2010.

A 25-mile (40 km) panoramic view will showcase world-class Central Florida attractions like SeaWorld, Universal Studios and Walt Disney World, as well as firework displays and rocket launches from NASA Kennedy Space Center. Maybe we can see the H.S.R.C. that's been approved.

It's the same company that developed Singapore Flyer "currently world's largest wheel", Beijing "UC" and Berlin "delayed" called Great Wheel Corporation! It WILL get Built!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
