6.84 million air travellers from India using Dubai airports

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Dubai Airports (DA), which owns and manages the operations and development of the two airports in Dubai, considers India its topmost market as it accounted for 6.84 million air travellers last year.

Seven airlines, including five from India, were operating into the two airports in Dubai -- Dubai International and Dubai World Central (DWC), from as many as 17 Indian cities, Lorne Riley, Head of Corporate Communications of DA, told reporters here.

Interesting design, the A380 in the renderings look tiny compared with the B747

Not long time ago, i have seen articles about DXB and passenger prediction for 2013. DXB suppose to gain almost 10 mil. passengers in a single year! That would be extraordinary! But my question is how its gonna happen.
Since Emirates is the biggest operator at DXB i expect they add more passengers, but definately not 10 mil. They do not receive so many new planes.
What about cooperation between Qantas and Emirates? How many new monthly passengers will DXB gain after diversion Qantas flights from SIN? Two daily departures with A380? Do we know any numbers? I mean do we know how many passengers fly with Qantas thru SIN these days? Thanx

EK added 18 777Ws, 11 380s this year to they're fleet, and next year they will get just as many airframes. Flydubai also keeps recieving new airframes, and one 738 with 180 pax with 4-6 runs a day carry more pax than one EK SJ. More airlines coming in next year also. In six years Dubai will have the busiest airport in the world. Watch what happens at the Dubai Air Show November 2013, there will be huge orders, plus launches.

Expect concourse E to also be launched soon before everything moves to DWC.

You mean Gate F with E reserved for future development... I've read DXB is renaming the "concourses" to "gate"... The new dedicated A380 concourse will be renamed Gate A, concourse 2 becomes Gate B, concourse 1 becomes Gate C, & so on...

The new $4.5*billion Terminal 3 opened on 14 October 2008, and was built exclusively for the use of Emirates Airline. From April 2013, Qantas will begin flying to Dubai International Airport and share the exclusive Terminal 3 with Emirates as part of their new Alliance. Concourse A is also part of Terminal 3, and is expected to open on 1 January 2013. It will be built exclusively for the Emirates Airbus A380, and Qantas will also utilize the concourse. Terminal 3 is the second largest building in the world by floor space and the largest airport terminal in the world, increasing the total capacity of the airport to over 62 million passengers. The airport's capacity will increase to more than 80 million passengers annually in 2013 when Concourse A opens. Further extensions to Terminal 2 are also currently being made. The airport revealed its future plans in May 2011, which involve construction of a new Concourse D, for all airlines currently operating from concourse C. Concourse D is expected to bring the total capacity of the airport to over 90 million passengers, and will be operating by 2018. The plan also involves Emirates solely operating from Concourse C along with Concourse A and B which it will already be operating. Dubai International Airport will be complemented by Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai World Central International Airport), a new 140*km2 (54*sq*mi) airport that will help handle the influx of travellers well into the future. It began cargo operations on 27 June 2010 and was expected to begin passenger operations in March 2011 but has been further delayed to 2012.

F is being built/expanded as we speak, but they skipped lettering E on purpose for a future build.

Which leads us to think about the rationale behind that choice. We know DWC has started cargo operations already, business jet flights are also moving to DWC next which opens up more landing space at DXB. The next step is to move the charter/LCCs to DWC, and FlyDubai should also move to there soon, or will they ?

With the DAS coming up in November, and concourse E being left open for a future build I would not be surprised if FlyDubai make a massive order for either the NEO, or MAX for replacements, even more organic growth, and activating E for them selves. Concourse E will not be hard to build since it should be just like F with out the airbridges.

Since the question has been raised what is to happen to the original DXB Terminal (Gate F)...?
Is there any renovations planned...?

F is being expanded as we speak, work has been in progress for the last year.

Go to the UAE forum, then infrastructure, then you will find the airport thread, back track, and it's all there.

The UAE aviation thread has less info regarding the airports, and it's more focused on the airlines.

First time here, and all I can say is... Again, DXB building another terminal on top of its massive T3? Perhaps DXB will still be operational for some time.

I wonder though how many more years will we need to wait until the new DWC will be open to all airlines... It is like a mega-hub gone way bigger with that new airport.

DWC has been built to provide DXB relief for at least the next 20 years... Even though DWC has been designed to handle 100million + passengers EK have no plans on moving for a very long time...
With Concourse 3 becoming operational as of today renamed Gate A there are another 3 extensions in the masterplan with Gate D under construction and Gate F with Gate E reserved for future expansion...

Will will also see the Baggage Handling Facility finished very soon next to C A with many more remote aircraft parking spots.
