That would be sweet! How many A380 gates would that be, and will it offer similar facilities as T3 or T1? Plus which carriers will be flying out of that new terminal?

When will QF start operating its kangaroo routes via DXB?
And will they use the new A380 concourse?

That'd mean services from both Sydney and Melbourne to London will be routed via Dubai... But I think only QF will do it, if not BA or VS.

BA is shutting down they're Australian flights due to loses, and EKs tie up with QF. QF will also stop flying to FRA.

Btw considering the fact that QF and EK are sticking along, are we going to see some extra traffic from Dubai to Europe? Is EK going to expand again in Europe?

Let me give you example, here in Toronto, Lufthansa and Air Canada carry a decent chunck of EU traffic, so you are sort of forced to use them for the european destinations. Is the similar scenerio going to take place in Dubai?

Oh ok. Will VS maintain its daily SYD-LHR via HKG service, though? It's a very long flight indeed either via HKG or DXB...

EK is going to expand in Europe without doubts.
Last month Lyon, France has been added and EK wants to make it daily this year, in February Warsaw, Poland will be added (daily if I remember).
Barcelona will see one of its 773 replaced by an A380 in february... etc

Since the start of their accounting year (First of April), EK raised its seats offer to the european market by 25% (19% worldwide which makes 2012 their biggest year of growth).

The JSA between QF/BA will end come 31st of March... The Kangaroo route will be solely operated by BA, if they survive without the JSA is yet to be seen...

Barcelona is not going to be replaced with 380, EK are only flying two promotional flights for now, thats all.

BA only had one flight a day, and it still lost money so they are more than willing to shut it down ASAP from what I hear.

I'm not sure where you heard BA was losing money? The flights are full literally all cabins plus BA will be upgrading the equipment / product offering to B77W from 31st of March...

The costs of J often for LHR to SYD is not significantly more than LHR to JFK, yet the distance is significantly longer. Load factors are not an indicator of profit, and AAs cancelled route from ORD to DEL which on average had 80%+ load factors, was also unprofitable.

That being said, not sure where the member heard from, but BA isn't cancelling the Kangaroo route just yet. They've dispelled these rumors publicly already.

I read it on FlyerTalk, but just because I read it doesn't make it true I guess.

It's still early days to make assumptions that BA is pulling out of the Australian route... Yes BA operated double daily but the BA9-10 BKK flight served a leisure market which has now become a point to point opposed to transit destination with BA15-16 SIN flight a business orientated destination which help fill the premium cabins...
I agree full cabins don't mean profits but with an equipment upgrade and fuel efficient aircraft operating the route I believe BA can make it work... Plus QF will continue to Codeshare on BA ex-SIN...
