To end your restated question I'm sure EK have dotted their I's & crossed their T's. in a real world it's always going to be down to clock work & if they need to offload 7 passengers versus 400+ passengers so be it.
Why would EK retime say the SYD flight to a later time slot? How does that solve any problems? This occasion was a rolling delay due to disrupts therefore the flight was granted an extra 15 minutes.
As more services are introduced the pressure will only mount but again that's aviation for you & that's why passengers need to pay attention to the boarding time too.

First passenger commercial flight in Al Maktoum International Aiport lands today. it's a WizzAir flight from Budapest :

Quote:
Dubai World Central Starts Passenger Flights

European low-cost carrier starts four new services this week, projecting Dubai into the realm of two-airport cities

By Dominic Ellis

The first passenger services to Dubai World Central (DWC) start today with the arrival of Wizz Air’s first flight from Budapest.

The low-cost carrier, which operates 40 A320s, is also starting flights from Bucharest, Kiev and Sofia to DWC this week.

Although DWC has been handling cargo flights, the start of passenger services is a significant milestone, projecting Dubai into the realm of two-airport cities.

Promotional rates for the inaugural Budapest flight were as low as €25 (Dhs126), and return fares for travel this week are averaging Dhs450 return.

Wizz Air’s Daniel de Carvalho joked that low fares such as these “are truly insane – we’re losing our heads over these fares”.

But passengers shouldn’t less theirs. The low-cost carrier (LCC) model isn’t always about low fares, and passengers must factor in taxes and fees that can add up to the base price, particularly if they book close to departure, as well as budget in taxi fares in and out of the city when travelling through the new out-of-town airport.

Wizz Air’s arrival raises competition with flydubai – which flies double daily to Kiev, albeit from Dubai International – and its recent entrance into the package holiday market, selling holidays through wizztours.com, shows it is keen to broaden its travel offering.

Last week Gulf Air announced it will operate one of its daily services from Bahrain into DWC from December 8, providing more evidence of the new airport slipping into gear.

A Dubai Airshow media event will be held on Wednesday to promote the global trade exhibition that will run between November 17-21.

Now that I've sat down & watched the video I understand your question & they state why the flight was held up. Firstly, they had approximately 200+ pax missing, then 27+ from Birmingham, Manchester & Glasgow. The last 7+ remaining pax are extremely lucky as they had already commenced the offload procedures & then the gate agent was granted a further 5 minutes to get passengers on the flight.

Agreed! Why did they decide to build many little terminals instead of 1( or 2) great and big terminal?

If you go to the UAE threads you will see what we believe to be the updated design for the future DWC. They have been giving hints the new design will have three huge sections which are way more futuristic in design.

I'm loving the Natgeo documentary about DXB, so far I've seen 6 episodes. So more than a documentary it now feels like a regular program, in witch case I'd like there to be a season 2 already in the works! So far I've only seen one emirates plane up close in Athens, and I was in awe of how efficient and professional the EK personnel is. I cant imagine what it would be to see hundreds of EK heavies lined up!

I like it too, and look forward to it every week but I'm disappointed with it overall. They only cover EK and Terminal 3 and completely disregard FlyDubai and all the other airlines at DXB which handle 40% of the traffic at the airport. Its sort like an advertisement for EK and Dubai. Its still very entertaining to watch but it had so much potential. Plus it makes DXB look like a 1 airline airport which it really is not.
Plus they cover so much stuff about the Engineering stuff, and concourse A, and they keep repeating some stories which gets a little boring.

I'm a bit surprised about this terminal, it's pretty boring.
I'm aware it's for low fares carrier but still, it's Dubai, I was getting used of gold and diamonds everywhere...

Agreed. Terminal looks rather cheap for Dubai. I was expecting much more.
