Guys, I am really pissed off by the behavior of most of the forumers.
If you don’t have answers, don’t respond or ignore. I am here to do what is needed in all cases. I think it is better to lock the thread for some time.

Times To Have Four Editions In Kerala
Kowdiar, Trivandrum: Leading daily newspaper Times Of India has reportedly finalised modalities to roll out four editions in Kerala in a strategic agreement with Mathrubhumi, according to industry sources.
It is learnt that plans are in place to bring out editions in Kozhikode, Kochi, Kottayam and Trivandrum early next year. Times will launch the Trivandrum and Kochi editions in March 2011, and the other two will follow. According to the tie-up, it is learnt that Mathrubhumi will provide printing and distribution facilities to Times. In that case, the entry of TOI into Kerala may be easy since Mathrubhumi has a wide distribution network. Owned by Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd., the Times had tried to buy major shares in Mathrubhumi, but the move didn’t materialise due to stiff resistance from some of the shareholders. The Times may target the young generation readers in these cities, taking advantage of the media frenzy in the State. Kerala is to witness a proliferation of media outlets with over five TV news channels and Times in the fray. If they can repeat their success in most metros, Times may prove a stiff challenge to the existing newspapers in the State. url |

State seeks NHAI aid for key road
The State Government has sought financial assistance from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for constructing a two-kilometre road linking Mulloor near Vizhinjam and Thalakkodu Junction for the Vizhinjam International Seaport Project. The road, though a short one, will cost Rs 80 crore as its construction involves building bridges and spanning a rise, said Ports Secretary and Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd (VISL) CEO Sanjeev Kaushik, who submitted the State’s application to NHAI last week in New Delhi. ‘’We had applied for financial assistance earlier also, but now the NHAI has introduced a special port connectivity scheme. So we thought we should take advantage of that,’’ he said. The road will have bridges spanning two ponds and will connect with the National Highway situated at a height of 16 metres. The State Government had earlier issued orders for the Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) to construct this road, a crucial lifeline for the port, whose construction is expected to start in a year’s time if things go as planned. NABARD has also sanctioned Rs 20 crore for the road construction. The State is pumping in Rs 450 crore for the preliminary infrastructure work such as roads and railway and the land acquisition of 120 hectares needed for it. Source |

Colourful start to 15th State film festival
![]() Film aura:Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan inaugurating the 15th International Film Festival of Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An overflowing audience of film lovers, vibrant with silent excitement, watched the 15th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) unfurl at the Nishagandhi open-air auditorium here on Friday evening. Werner Herzog, a German film-maker who keeps breaking all known concepts of film-making, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural function. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan handed over the award to him on behalf of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy as drumbeats, cymbals and applause sounded in the auditorium. As guest of honour on the stage was Waheeda Rehman, the heartthrob of yesteryear Hindi cinema. She and Jnanpith Award-winning poet O.N.V. Kurup were honoured by the academy at the function. url |

National Trade Fest 2010 starts in Thiruvananthapuram.
The capital city, Thiruvananthapuram will host the national trade fest which starts today. The National Trade Fest includes 20 days of exhibition and sale of quality commodities from around the country. Chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the fest at its venue, Putharikandam Maidanam. State ministers and leader of opposition Oommen Chandy will attend the inaugural function.
The Trade fest will have around 300 stalls with separate sections like Christmas Bazaar and Food festival. Former Kerala CM, Oommen Chandy will launch the Christmas Bazaar. K.V. Thomas, union minister for state for Agriculture is to inaugurate the food festival. As per Food and Civil Supplies minister C. Divakaran, the 300 stalls will have the presence of food and civil supplies departments, animal husbandry departments and other private sectors. Essential and fast moving goods will be available at a price range of 10 to 20 percentages less than the original market price. As a part of the national trade fest the civil supplies corporation will distribute sugar at Rs. 25 per kg till the 14th of January, through all the Supply co distribution centers. Despite the controversies dealing with the quality of commodities from Supply Co, the minister added that the trade fest will give more emphasis on providing quality items at fair prices. http://www.keral.com/News/News_headl...nthapuram.html

Our Green city status may be lost sonn and forever if immediate action is not taken to spruce up our city with more trees and plants. Alarming rate at which new constructions are starting......... Do we all want our city to join the big league of cities that are fast becoming Concrete jungles????
![]() ![]() ![]() Members please respond with suggestions and ideas.. TDF can make an action plan for this. As every building in the city cannot adopt green concepts. |

Mega Cities of Other States
A nice eye opener on how Backward states are poised to push Kerala down:
It may seem to be an out of context topic, but the polititians who are opposing 45 m wide road should understand the facts on how other states in India are growing. UP's Mega City along green field highway. http://news.in.msn.com/national/arti...mentid=4696596 Trivandrum too can have such a wide corridor if city is connected with the express highway passing through neighbouring Tirunelveli. A straight Road from eastern parts of the city to Expressway(6 lane) in Tamilnadu will be hardly 40 Kms. It takes only 8.5 hrs to travel from Bangalore to Trivandrum (It took me only thatmuch last month in Skoda) via Nagercoil through this expressway. Also, as the eastern part is having western ghats and mountenous terrai, the best way is to have an elevated highway on the lines of Chennai port-Madhuravoyal elevated flyover (20km) which, from there on, is connected to the bypass, NH45 and NH5.
