Now for arenas that are sub-par: Vanderbuilt (can't stand it), Pittsburg (courtside suits, weird), and all of the roundhouses.
as great as the comcast center is at maryland, i assure you that it isnt perfect. Cole Field House is still the greatest arena i have ever been to.

I've been to both and they're not exactly the same. Allen is steeper and holds more people. The sightlines at Allen are superior to those at Roberts and Allen holds sound far better.

Which USC are you talking about when you mention better arenas because Southern Cal's Galen Center is certainly inferior to Allen.

Oklahoma State's Gallagher-Iba Arena was once Gallagher Hall, a small fieldhouse of around 6500 seats. In the late 90s the roof was raised, and new exterior walls were built, along with a new roof. The lower bowl was the old arena, the upper bowl is now new. And its known for its noise.

I live in KC too and I know exactly where you're coming from--some of the KU alumni from Johnson County in particular can act quite snotty. But when it comes to basketball their fans are freaking RAUCOUS. I went to the Big 12 Championship game at Sprint Center and they damn-near tore the roof off the place. Easily the coolest college basketball atmosphere I had ever experienced.

I've never attempted to get tickets as an outsider as I am a student now, but I would imagine next to impossible. Kansas has a sell out streak of 125. That's every home game since December of 1994.

Although if you are able to get tickets, go. It's one of the most amazing basketball experiences you will ever have.

Not quite as difficult for non-premium dates, but when Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, etc., come to town, you better either know somebody or be prepared to shell out upwards of $200/ticket, if not more.

I go to KU and MU games when they come to KC, and the atmosphere for both schools are probably one of the best I've personally experienced as a sports fan. I went to the Big 12 Championship game between KU and Texas, and I thought they were gonna blow the roof off the place!

My favorite arena was the old one that LIU used to play in, Arnold and Marie Schwartz Athletic Center

was an old converted theater from the 1920's, saw a game there on TV and it was amazing.

They pack people into Allen Fieldhouse like no other. There are about 35 rows all the way around, and additional bleachers up in the corners that add about 5 more rows. And other than a select few sections, the entire fieldhouse is bleacher seating. Just look at the pictures and look how close together the people are. But that's part of the fun of attending a game there. I've seen people with shirts that say "Allen Fieldhouse; what's better than getting close to 16,300 of your closest friends?"

Well, there are also 300 million people down there. One 10,000+ seat arena for every 2 million people? Sounds about right. We build about the same number relative to our population.

That's an awesome venue for hoops. It's a nice change from 2 or 3 tiered arenas. How many people does it hold?
