It may not be pretty but it just oozes soul. I'll take it over a Disneyfied town center any day.

I'm not going to bash this place. Sure, it looks shabby in places, but it has a certain "living" feel to it, unlike many other American towns & cities filled with McMansions & strip malls. Some of the architecture in Brownsville is pretty fascinating -- a mixture of old colonial US & Mexico.

Brownsville looks very different than McAllen, and they are only 1hr apart from each other. Nice photos.

Thanks for the tour RGV!
I don't know what Detroit you've been to, but I don't see how you can compare this tiny downtown to Detroit, especially in the last few years.

I don't know about you, but I would say this:

is in a whole different league than this:

But in any case, I don't think Brownsville is that bad. It doesn't need a Starbucks on every corner for it to be a nice viable community.

172,806 and growing incredibly fast.

Close to 100% of the city is Hispanic in ethnicity.

If you want to mean that all this people looks Mexican, then you need to take a map and learn that Mexico is North America and then if you think that original NA were white you are wrong again, probably some of this people family have been there for longer of what you think

I have not idea where are you from, but for sure geographic and history need to be improved in school

Anyway thks for other great comment
