Chicago | Gay Pride Parade 2008 (Photos)
I didn't realize how close the parade route was to my apartment, so I went out to take some shots. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for the pix, Hydrogen.
This is one of the longest Pride Parades I can remember here in Chicago -- it neatly took 5 hours. And it was unusally "disorganized" this year, owing to the slight accident on one of the floats, and the periods of rain. As I had said elsewhere, "disorganized" is not necessarily a bad thing. It was just as interesting and entertaining watching the spectators as it was to see the Parade. And on parts of Broadway, the spectators practically mixed in with the participants/marchers, so that it was difficult to know which was which in certain instances. |

Great photos. It looks like you were taking photos from right near where I was standing for the first part of the parade. That was certainly the longest parade I've ever been to, I kept thinking it was going to be over, but the floats kept coming.

Thanks, guys. Those pesky rain showers definitely complicated the parade. There were about five times when I thought it was over, only to have more floats emerge in the distance.

I don't remember if this was done in previous years, but I find it funny that this year, the garbage truck was preceded by a one of those big corporate beer trucks. It was as if they deliberately wanted to remind us of all the beer cans that littered the street.
