Seattle by a Seattlelife

**PLEASE SEE LATER POSTS FOR NEWEST PICTURES**

This is my first photo thread and my first camera ever. I hope you enjoy!

It was finally in the 90s in the Seattle area so I went downtown to snap some photos.

I'll start with some photos of some of Seattle's larger projects being built right now. Then I'll head over to Westlake Center which is one of the region's most popular shopping areas.

This is the only way to go when traveling downtown

Here is the Olive 8 going up

This is going up just across the street!

There's even more taking shape just a block away.

Now I'm headed towards Westlake Center

Washington State Convention Center

A cool bubble blowing figure haha

A couple towers

Some nice shade

Arriving at Westlake Center

Some surrounding views from Westlake

The beautiful 1521 taking shape

I'll be adding more later including Pike Place Market, gorgeous views, and Seattle's tallest building. Thanks for viewing

Awesome job. I love the architecture of Seattle. The buildings are all sleek and very contemporary. Great job.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it!

So the tour continues. I left Westlake and headed a few blocks to the famous Pioneer Square.

First, I saw a "Ride the Duck on the way." This is a tour that takes you around on wheels and on the water.

Sorry, another view of the 1521, those are metro bus lines in the foreground.

A coffee drinker mimicking the Seattle Art Museum's "Hammering Man." That comes later.

Here I arrive

A comical view of 1521 in my eyes

A newlywed couple kiss next to a fire truck

Looking out at Elliot Bay, West Seattle and Puget Sound

King Kong in Seattle

People standing around to see some flying fish

A worker at the market.

Looking down the Market. It gets PACKED on weekends like this.

Sculptures made from the Ash of the 1980 Mt St Helens Eruption (The day my parents married.)

A cruise ship on Elliot Bay. Olympic Peninsula in the background.

Looking towards Qwest and Safeco Fields with Mt Ranier in the background.

Ferries on Elliot Bay with the cranes of Harbor Island and the Port of Seattle.

Seattle's 2 new towers of blue.

A piano man on the street of the Pike Place Market.

The first Starbucks ever. This is harder than you'll ever know since I'm a diehard Sonics fan, but I'll show it anyway.

A shop with many colorful peppers.

Outside of the market there are some street venders.

Some nice glass pieces.

Some piggy banks.

and my favorite of all...

I'll leave the comments up to you...

A final view of 1521, I promise.

A couple old motorcycles.

Hope you liked. More to come later!

After a good delay, the tour continues.

Remember the coffee drinking figure? Well, here was the inspiration, Seattle Art Museum's "Hammering Man."

and with the Washington Mutual Tower (my favorite in Seattle) in the background

Photos aren't allowed in the museum but here's the lobby to the Seattle Art Musuem

The Harbor Steps are a little south of Westlake and Pike Place, this is just the top portion.

This man was passed out drunk in the sun. Harbor Steps security had an ambulance come remove him and they asked me to email them this photo for their records. (I won't show his face for his sake).

On my way towards Pioneer Square

You can see the Columbia Center peering over the rest

Looking up Madison from 1st

Great food, plus free Irish music on sundays!!!

3 different architectural styles

Entering Pioneer Square, Seattle's oldest and most historic neighborhood.

One of Seattle's oldest landmarks

Chief Sealth, the inspiration for the name "Seattle"

An example of the architecture in Pioneer Square

A totem pole

A walking tour group in Pioneer Square

The Smith Tower, when first completed was considered "the tallest office building in the world outside New York City" http://www.smithtower.com/History.html

and I'll end this piece of the tour with a neat carving above a doorway near Smith Tower.

I'll be adding photos again in the future as time warrants.
