Absolutely no problem with this, though I know local residents are feeling squeezed out by the student population. If middle England can build across the road, they should have a good chance of securing investment.

I'm hoping though that the economy picks up soon so that other types of investment can kick on. As welcome as any development is, we need to build a more mixed city centre.

Saying that, students are perfect for town and they never really leave, they simply get recycled every September. New ones come in, with new parent money.

Strange use of colours, but the curve is good and the glazing will take up much of it anyway. It'll do.

This is up for approval, subject to conditions and a legal agreement, at next week's Planning Committee meeting

Goodo. Hopefully the change of use will make it sustainable.

Looks alright, and adds more density to the area

The developers have now submitted a planning application for permission to demolish the Hatton Garden Industrial Estate, so it looks like things are moving along on this one.

Interesting. Hopefully not just to facilitate a sale, but to actually develop the plot.

The developers have now satisfied the Section 106 agreement for this development, and as such the Head of Planning, under delegated powers, has today issued full planning permission for this development.

With the buoyancy of the student accommodation market in the city at the moment, hopefully it won't be too long before we see this one on site.

That's quite promising. I wonder what the s.106 obligations were. It may be that they still needed to satisfy them to begin seeking investment, but it is encouraging when you hear that the developers are working at it.
